AX860i - Corsair Power Supply - Fully Modular ATX PSU

Corsair AX860i Power Supply 80PLUS - Platinum

Corsair AXi 860W Power Supply

This AXi Series power supply from Corsair is revolutionary in the way it is the first desktop PC power supplies to use digital (DSP) control and Corsair Link to bring the best level of monitoring and performance. The AX860i has a total power output of 860W, other advantages are that it gives you extremely tight voltage control virtually silent operation, and a fully modular cable set. The 80PLUS Platinum efficiency rating and Zero RPM Fan Mode mean that at low to medium loads, the fan doesn’t spin at all. And when you do push the AXi hard, the thermally controlled fan spins only as fast as it needs to. Even when the fan isn't running the AX860i has specially selected components to reduce electronic noise for a near silent PSU.

Power-supply units, or PSUs, are an integral part of any computer build. Often overlooked, it is the component that is likely to last the longest, and it can be moved between systems when you upgrade to the latest and greatest in the future.

Conceived back in 2004 and brought to market just a year later, the 80 PLUS initiative is one of many standards introduced in an effort to increase energy efficiency in modern technology. Targeting computer power supplies, it awards PSUs that are able to achieve an energy efficiency of over 80 per cent at varying workloads and a power factor of 0.9 or more at 100 per cent load.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do not buy it well just go wrong This PSU need to RMA 2 time of writing this review form the pc going off under gaming load and then it power cycle it self for 10 minutes before turn back on

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the modular design and corsair link integration Great modular design, only use the cables you need. Corsair link shows the power draw and allows you to disable out of use PCI outputs. Fan is very quiet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good PSU if you manage to find a good one... This PSU comes with all sorts of promise. Lots of nice features and being Corsair AX series, it should be top quality. Not necessarily the case... I am on the second one of these as the first suffered from the "no-power just clicking" issue that others have reported. Scan replaced without any issues and extremely quickly. Scan service always been top notch for me and one of the biggest reason why I continue to use them. Second AX860i now in full use and has been going OK (so far). Will wait to see what happens in the months to come. Hoping this will last the time it should. Corsair Link software a little on the not that great side but it is functional I guess. I wouldn't say to stay away from this PSU but at the same time, I wouldn't push anyone towards it. If it is what you want, buy it! I hope you get one that doesn't suffer from any issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after 6 months Looks great on paper however the corsair link software is an awful piece of engineering and my unit died within six months with now all to commonly reported random power loss issue that these units are now known to suffer from. RMA'd back to Corsair and replaced with an AX860 non i version which as never missed a beat. IMO skip the AX860i, save yourself some money and grief and get the non-digital version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and stable I have two of these (well, three if you include the one I accidentally ordered when I didn't need it!). I've had no problems with power fluctuations, brown outs or sudden death. The original one I bought two years ago is still going strong. I'm using them in 4770k & 6770k systems with a gtx980ti & gtx1080 respectively.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from rock solid performance this PSU is a quality item, even though it is about 3 years old, it is fully compatible with Skylake. may maximum load is 280w and I have never heard the PSU make a sound excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ultra-stable output for around 4 weeks, then dead Build quality feels really good, all output voltages controlled extremely accurately, very quiet even when fan running. Unfortunately the supply died after 4 weeks use. The PC would not start and there was a constant clicking from the PSU. After further investigation this appears to be a fairly common issue with the AXi units. RMA'd back to Scan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic My first fully modular power supply, I love the customization cabling with these including the different colour cables (I've swapped mine out for the red ones). This is powering my Titan X machine with no stability problems. It is very surprising what power supply you really need when you don't overclock any of the components. For example according to Corsair Link software after running Firestrike and Crysis 3 for a couple hours the maximum wattage used was 401W. I will update once I have installed my second Titan X for SLI.
