Product Overview

Built on a Silent Heritage

The Multiframe S-Series M8-3 HS is not a conventional 80mm fan design. It uses a glass-fibre-reinforced frame with integrated vibration dampening, a proprietary NanoSLI bearing, and fully decoupled silicone corner mounts that isolate the fan mechanically from the chassis. With a rated lifespan of up to 140,000 hours, the design targets long-duty environments such as servers and continuously running systems where mechanical stability and sustained low noise matter more than cosmetic airflow figures.

Fully Decoupled Silicone Mounting

One of the defining features of this 80mm fan is its mounting system. Four removable silicone corner pieces completely isolate the fan from the chassis, significantly reducing vibration transfer. Installation is straightforward—insert, secure, and enjoy noticeably quieter operation.

NanoSLI Bearing & EKAPlus Drive

Durability is a core focus of the Multiframe S-Series. The fan carries an uncommon six-year warranty and is rated for a lifespan of up to 140,000 hours thanks to an extremely quiet and long-lasting NanoSLI bearing and EKAPlus drive system. This makes the fan perfect for servers - a long time cooling companion that will cool demanding hardware for years.

Strong Airflow, Controlled Noise

At a speed of 2,200 RPM, the fan delivers up to 59 m³/h (34.7 CFM) of airflow while maintaining a low noise level of approximately 19 dB(A) at full speed. A 3-pin Molex connector allows simple control, and the fan can start reliably at just 4.5 volts.

Features

• 80mm PC cooling fan with a glass fibre–reinforced housing and removable silicone corner mounts.
• Operates at up to 2,200 RPM and delivers airflow of up to 34.7 CFM.
• Uses a propriatary NanoSLI bearing and EKAPlus drive for low-noise operation and super high 140k hour longevity.
• Equipped with a 3-pin Molex connector for simple voltage-based speed control.
• Starts reliably at voltages as low as 4.5 V for flexible low-speed operation.
• Produces approximately 19 dB(A) of noise at full speed.
• Fully decoupled silicone corner pieces isolate vibration from the chassis to reduce resonance.
• Backed by a six-year manufacturer warranty.
• Suitable for standard 80mm fan mounts in PC cases, servers, and continuously operating systems.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.
