Product Overview

New Standards in Energy Efficiency

In server environments, often no attention is paid to the power consumption of the fans used, and these often do not fulfil the requirements for energy efficiency. ARCTIC has set itself the goal of developing one of the most efficient server fans. The progress we have made shows once again that efficiency and innovation do not necessarily have to be expensive. The S8038 series consumes only half the power compared to well-known competitor products with the same performance and also offers a longer service life.

Full Control with a Wide Speed Range

The S8038-10K offers a wide speed range that can be controlled both via PWM and voltage. This enables perfect optimisation of the fan to the specific requirements of the system. With a speed range from 500 rpm to 10000 rpm, it offers an ideal balance between cooling performance and noise development despite different requirements. The standard 4-pin connection additionally allows the S8038-10K to be connected to 2-pin or 3-pin headers and thus be controlled by voltage instead of PWM. The 30 cm long cable offers excellent flexibility when positioning the fan.

Active Cooling for Extended Motor Lifespan

The lifespan of fans is mostly determined by the lifespan of the motor, which is significantly dependent on the motor temperature, especially in long-term operation. The motor of the S8038-10k is actively cooled by an additional impeller in the fan hub. By maintaining lower motor temperatures, its lifespan is extended by up to 50 %. This advance not only leads to improved operating efficiency, but also to significant cost savings in the long run. An adhesive label for the motor hub is included in the delivery, which ensures a long service life even in particularly dusty environments.

High Airflow and Static Pressure

Heat sinks and radiators benefit from fans with high static pressure. The S8038-10K has a static pressure of 51 mm/H2O, which enables it to push air, even through narrow cooling fins. At the same time, it achieves a maximum airflow of 173.30 m³/h allowing it to quickly dissipate heat from enclosures. These properties make it the ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

Wide Range of Applications

The S8038-10K fits into 2U server cases and serves as an upgrade or replacement for a CPU fan, radiator fan or for system ventilation. In addition to server cooling, it is also used in industrial systems and plays an important role in machine control and automation systems. Reliable and robust, it guarantees performance in various hardware environments and ensures efficient cooling and minimal downtime.

Designed for Continuous Operation

The impeller of the S8038-10K is held in place by two ball bearings, making it not only particularly durable but also less sensitive to external influences such as heat and dust.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.
