550W Corsair VS550, Fully Wired, 80 PLUS White, SLI/CrossFire, Single Rail, 42A, 120mm Fan, ATX PSU is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet fan My main requirement was to easily replace my failing ATX PSU with a reliable PSU with quiet fan. The leads were long enough (a worry for me) especially the CPU 12v lead, and in operation the fan is barely audible - my primary worry was not to have a noisy fan. Very pleased and fully recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great reliable power supply I purchased this PSU to replace an identical unit killed by water damage. This PSU is dependable and lasted me for years. Great quality at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Wuality, Low Price. The PSU is the place where you definitely do not want to skimp and take a gamble. With the risk of destroying all the other components in your PC you really need to lean on the side of caution. This is why I always go with a brand I recognise, be it Corsair or EVGA. This 550W Corsair VS series PSU combines both the reliable Corsair quality with an affordable price. The unit itself will easily power most low to mid range machines. I personally just installed one in a £500 machine with an AMD FX 6300 and a GTX 660 and it handles the power with no problem whatsoever. The fan is practically silent and every connector you expect to be there is to be found on this unit. The only minor problem I ran into with this unit was the stiffness of the cables, mean that if you are using a tight case, you may find things a little extra fiddly. The SATA connectors are spaced quite far apart and so if you are stacking optical drives, hard drives and other SATA power users together, it's not going to be too aesthetically pleasing. The wired cables include: 24-Pin ATX 8-Pin EPS/ATX12V (Aux CPU socket cable, splits into 2x 4-pin) 2x 8-Pin PCI-E (can be split from 8-pin to 6-Pin) 4x SATA 4x Molex 2x Floppy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never had a Corsair fail. Been using these in my builds for years, never had one fail yet. But got through plenty cheap brand ones, for people who want cheap!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shocking Packaging This item arrived in good time, and with the assistance of YouTube I managed to get it all connected and working well. After the inital boot it's quietly running in the background, the fans running are hardly noticable. I was somewhat surprised and suspicious about the packaging though. It came in a plain white box with a Samsung label for a different item altogether! and inside bubble wrapped with ScanUK tape was the product. I had expected the Corsiar VS550 to arrive in its own packaging with specs and warantee etc! Saying that, the product looked very new so I did install it as I had paid for the cover. After an online chat with ScanUK I was assured that the guarantee would be honoured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fixed my problem! I bought this PSU because my computer was acting quite oddly and it was either the CPU or PSU. Basically, the computer (the case) was getting extremely hot and eventually freezing or resetting. My guess was the PSU has it seemed the case was getting the heat from it. Well, I bought this new PSU and the problems have gone away! Thanks Scan!

80 plus white ??

What do you mean by 80 plus white, I know 80 plus, bronze, silver gold etc, but can't find what you mean by white ? is this just marketing ..
Asked by: drjohnsmith
White is just what Corsair calls their standard 80+ range. White (Standard units for basic everyday machines) Bronze (Improved quality for more intense use) Silver (Decent quality units for gaming machines) Gold (Good quality units for intense gaming) Platinum (Best quality for Overclocking, SLI and Watercooling) Titanium (Specialist. Multiple redundancies, used for overkill) As you would imagine, the further down the list the higher the quality, the more expensive, the longer the lifespan, the better the redundancy and the more stability when pushing your components to their limits.
