Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

27" Asus PG279Q ROG Swift 165Hz Nvidia G-Sync, IPS Monitor, 2560x1440 4ms, 1000:1, DP/HDMI/2x USB 3.0 Black Red is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from 27" Asus PG279Q ROG Swift Great monitor.Minimal BLB.It has some Glow but nothing major.I can live with that. This is about my fourth 27" Asus PG279Q ROG Swift, they were not all from scan so if you are prepared to play the IPS lottery i would go for this monitor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Size is great and the resolution is a god send however your playing with QA Lottery. Got this monitor yesterday first thing I noticed there is a dead pixel with yellow back light bleed on left corners. So I phoned up scan.co.uk to see if they can sort it unfortunately Asus only counter 6 pixels or more as a fault however Scan will RMA the monitor however I have to pay for it to be sent back which is bad service in my opinion when you have another big retailer that has a policy for asus monitors and will collect it. I have bought a 3xs system from them a 1080 gpu and others but now after this I am going to go elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh My Gosh ! i saved for soo long to get this bad boy ive got 2x dell ultrasharps and with my Spyder calibration tool this Asus IPS version is very very very close, and perfectly suitable as a do it all if you need the truecolor that dells has,I own the Asus 248g 144hz 1ms and was concerned about the 4ms reponce of this but i can tell you that to have IPS with 144hz and Gsync more than makes up for it i am a ASUS superfan of 15 yrs an went with this as 4k gaming needs another year to catchup for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 2k IPS monitor around I spent months deciding whether to buy this monitor due to the fact it had bad feedback on its back light bleed, I couldn't warrant spending a lot of money for something poorly made. I'm glad I waited as it seems Asus has corrected that issue with their new batch, now I can get the best out of my graphics card (zotac gtx 980ti amp extreme). I strongly recommend this monitor for those who have top of the line last gen or new generation graphics cards. Pros: IPS panel produces beautiful colours. 2k combined with IPS amplifies the colour range. The stand is strong and sturdy. It has a thin bezel which makes it ideal for dual screens. The navigation buttons and stick are easy to use. It comes with changeable refresh rates, one of which is 165hz. Easy setup from the box. (There's probably more) Cons: the standard brightness setting is far too high out the box, I'd suggest changing the settings. The red light ring can get distracting, but you can turn it off. The value of the monitor is a bit steep in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great monitor if you've got the budget for it... After lots of deliberating, reading horror stories of BLB and excessive glow, I was thinking twice about ordering this panel. In the end I bought it, and I'm very glad I did. I have no BLB and absolutely minimal IPS glow. I'm pretty sure Asus upped their quality control because this is near to perfect as an IPS (AHVA) panel can get. It's very well made, feels solid and comes pre-assembled in a large box. Lots of adjustment, 80 degrees swivel either way, 25+ degrees tilt, 90 degrees rotation and 12cm of up/down adjustment. Ergonomically, it's excellent. Out of the box, it's very well calibrated, if a little bright. TFTCentral.co.uk have got some post-calibration settings to get you as close to image perfection as possible without expensive calibration hardware and it worked a treat. The settings also help to reduce IPS glow too, if you have a panel that suffers from it. Gaming on it with G-Sync is amazing. Buttery smooth, frame after frame at 144Hz (stock refresh rate) and you can overclock it to 165Hz but at the moment, I can't really notice any difference. Maybe when I'm 'used to it', I may do and I've got the option then. All in all, this panel is a lot of money but it's the highest quality. When I originally looked at these, they were £660 ish and I would have bought one, other than for the poor quality control back in the earlier production runs. Now they're nearly £800.... but, still a good investment in my opinion. If you're worrying about quality control on this model, don't. Asus have clearly sorted it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Asus ROG PG279Q Great monitor Bought one of these 2 weeks ago. This was a December 2016 model & its just Perfect, no colour bleeding, no massive amounts of Panel glow bearing it mind all IPS monitors do have some amount of IPS glow this is the nature of the technology. The IPS screen offers a significant improvement over the TN model in terms of image quality. The colours are just fantastic and Games like Witcher 3 are just amazing to see on this monitor. I came from a Benq XL2420t 120Hz Monitor. Gsync is great for playing all the games, Battlefield 4 will look ok, but its the Engine thats the issue with bf4 so it'll look the same on any monitor. Battlefield 1 looks fantastic. I would say that if your into competitive FPS then your better off getting a TN panel, if its just casual FPS play then you cannot beat this monitor. Would I buy this again properly not, but monitors are one of those components that last a long time. Pro: Great colours Thin bazel G-Sync & 144hz HDMI & Display port (thou more would have been nice) Cons: Cost Asus gaming features

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing monitor This is one of the best monitors I have ever been owning in my life, it works extremely well with G-Sync and the 165Hz makes it a very good experience. I had an Asus monitor that could go up to 144 Hz but as soon as I changed to this one I noticed the difference in fluidity of motion straight away. My monitor came in with virtually zero backlight bleed and the only way to "see" what backlight bleed the monitor had I had to use my Camera's sensitivity. It is fairly high priced but yet I really recommend it for those who like detail.

Is this monitor 3D? Is it worth the extra cost?

Is it 3D? The other, cheaper ASUS ROG model seems to be. This one isn't marked as having it, however. I noticed this one is IPS as well, unlike the other ASUS ROG model on Scan. Is it worth the £200 extra? The 4K one seems to be the same price, also. (Although, it is only 60Hz and 4ms.) I definitely want a G-Sync monitor and I have heard the ASUS ROG swift series is up there with the best. Its just a quest of which one to go with.
Asked by: PcGamingRig
It is not 3D. IPS really adds more depth to color. Strongly recommend it. 4K would not really be noticeable with this size of the screen. But also harder to achieve a constant 60 fps, let alone abusing the 144 Hz. I made the choice of spending the extra cash for IPS after looking at reviews on youtube. If your spending x amount of cash on monitor, might as well chip in a little more for more vibrant graphics. After just getting off tomb raider on very high settings, I am really happy I went with this monitor.

Display Port

I'm interested to buy this monitor but am unsure if my Geforce gtx 690 graphics card which has a micro display port connector, can a micro dp to dp adapter be used?
Asked by: HEO2
I believe that should be posible. But getting benifit of 165hrz you need g-sync and card fast enough to deliver it

Is there a dead/stuck pixel policy for this monitor?

If there's a bad pixel on this monitor, will Scan replace it, or do I need to contact Asus? Will Scan/Asus replace it for even 1 bad pixel or does there have to be a minimum amount?
Asked by: pizza
I received one with a dead pixel. Only the one pixel. And scan replaced within 5 days. This second version has no dodgy pixels nor dodgy back light bleed. Chuffed to bits, top quality customer service. Recommend it.
