Product Overview Envision bigger with 2560 x 1440 WQHD, packing four times the pixel density of 720p! New premium 16:9 wide-format PB278QR LED displays with 178° wide viewing angle panel for better productivity, opening extra multitasking space to fit more windows and projects on-screen. ASUS exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, QuickFit Virtual Scale, and 100% sRGB fidelity ensure reality-defining color and image accuracy, giving you true “what you imagine is what you create” power. HDMI, DisplayPort, and dual-link DVI support WQHD natively, accentuated by room-dominating audio via twin 3W speakers. To help you stay naturally focused, ergonomic design includes tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustment, plus streamlined cabling that keeps clutter off your desktop.

See Better and Wider
The PB278QR WQHD monitor provides 109 pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in high quality 2560 x 1440 visuals – equaling four times the resolution of standard 720p sets. It allows users to view greater image detail and do more with an onscreen footprint larger than that of standard displays.

Made for Work and Play
The ASUS PB278QR provides an ultra-wide 178° viewing angle on both horizontal and vertical planes, thereby minimizing onscreen color shift even when viewed from extreme angles. With its WQHD display, you enjoy 77% more desktop space than a full HD screen to spread out your windows and palettes. It is also about 25% sharper than a generic 27” full HD display, delivering ultra-smooth visuals thanks to 5ms (GTG) response time. This ensures you get lag-free experiences in movies and gaming, with the latter looking more vivid, with all in-game details shown in true color. The ASUS PB278QR is undoubtedly your best choice for work and play.

Native WQHD Content Support
The PB278QR features a host of connectivity options that include HDMI, DisplayPort, and dual-link DVI for native WQHD, plus D-sub for full HD 1080p content transmission. The HDMI port also supports MHL which allows you to use the MHL with HDMI connection to view content from your mobile device on the PB278QR while simultaneously charging the mobile device. Twin built-in 3W speakers provide quality audio for a completely immersive home theater experience.

Designed with You in Mind
The PB278QR offers a highly ergonomic and smart design that comes with tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments to ensure an always-comfortable viewing and usage experience. Its smart cable management further promotes clutter-free spaces for work and enjoyment. Features • Impeccable lifelike visuals with 27” 16:9 2560 x 1440 with 100% sRGB

Choosing a monitor is not an easy decision to make, and not just because of the large number of variations in resolution, refresh rates, sizes and connectivity options. There are also varying panel technologies used to form each display that need to be considered. These panel technologies can be grouped into three broad categories which cover the vast majority of monitors sold in the consumer market.

Whether the broadcasters are going HD or not, TV sets and projectors are arriving thick and fast which claim to support higher resolutions than regular telly. But HDTV is far from just one standard – it incorporates a couple of different resolutions, two different scanning modes, and a number of different frame rates. In this article, we present a guide to what all the terms actually mean.

There’s a lot more to High Definition than just having the ability to run your screen at the right resolution. With more than one type of connection available, and the thorny subject of signal encryption to contend with, just because your monitor and graphics are capable of 1,920 x 1,080 or better does not necessarily mean they will be able to display HDTV in all its glory.

27" ASUS PB278QR Pro Monitor, IPS Panel, 2560x1440, 5ms, 300cd/m², D-Sub/DisplayPort/DVI-DL/HDMI, Speakers Black is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty impressive screen The screen met my spec for resolution, size and use of displayport cable. However the Scan spec stated it came with a variety of cables but did not mention displayport so I ordered another one. However the screen arrived with a full set of cables including displayport (impressive) so I now have a spare!. It would have been good to have correct marketing information at point of order. However I am very satisfied with the product quality and use with an office desktop - the resolution is perfect with Windows 10 (rather than an HD screen where text/icons get too small) and it makes a huge difference to my productivity. Internal speakers have also removed a lot of clutter from the desk and the screen certainly addresses everything I wanted. Good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all rounder I was looking to upgrade my old 22in (not HD) monitor for a few weeks and this monitor kept appearing on my searches, I'm glad I went for it. This IPS panel is very nice, great colours, no dead pixels, and the backlight bleed that IPS panels can have is virtually non existent on mine. I have been using it for gaming and have been very pleased with the performance, 2k at 27in is very good for general use as well (not to small). If you need to adjust the monitor allot, the stand may not be as sturdy as others. Serious/competitive gamers will need a faster monitor with Vsync or Gsync, otherwise its a great compromise between the quality of 4k and performance of HD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astounding value This is a nice, if basic, monitor. The actual display panel itself is lovely - 2560x1440 at 27in, so high resolution and large enough to be usable at that resolution. Some people have complained about the way the swivel adjustment works, but it's not a problem for me. One downside is that the bezel seems a bit on the cheap side, but not horrendously so. Overall, considering what you get and the price you pay for that, I'd say it was excellent value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent all round monitor I had bought the 4k ASUS PB287Q which has the same style and buttons as the 2k Asus PB278QR Monitor. I am delighted with both monitors. At current time I think 2k monitors a better all round choice than 4k monitors as the font size with some programs is too small with the 4k. Picture quality seems excellent to me. Other reviewers have complained that the screen will tilt but not rotate from the base so you have to move the base instead. I don't regard this as a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Monitor as always you get a Fantastic monitor from Asus. The colour's are Fantastic and crisp, great for looking at photos and editing them. Movies look great and the fast screen makes a perfect viewing pleasure, black to white looks great to, this is a great all round Monitor that i would recommend for photo editing, office, movies and TV and of course gaming, FPS people might find it a little to slow but TBO it's great for anything else with a great price to,, To be just perfect a turning base would of been handy but at this price you cant grumble but still worth the 5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for video editing as an external monitor Before I chose this monitor I watched a lot of YouTube reviews on a shortlist of monitors I'd highlighted on the Scan website. I knew from the good customer service I'd experienced from Scan that I would buy from them anyway so my only choice was which monitor would suit my application best. I shoot full 1080p anamorphic video. The raw footage once stretched in premiere pro from the camera is 3840 x 1080, that on a normal HD monitor looks very narrow, although it is finally trimmed to the standard movie screen ratio of 2.4:1 before its assembled for the first rough cut edit. The full resolution of 2560 x 1440 for this monitor means I can, for the first time review my footage at 1 to 1 without going to a 4K monitor. The first time I played some of my footage back on this monitor blew me away. I had considered upgrading my camera to 4K until I saw what my camera was actually producing viewed on a decent review monitor. Out of the box, it's a bit bright and the colours are slightly oversaturated but that is easily fixed with a good screen colour calibration tool which I intend to do before I use it for basic colour correcting my video. I understand from a certain reliable source that this particular monitor reacts very well to calibrating for basic colour grading work. I am very pleased with this monitor for my video work; it's also great for viewing Blu-ray movies. I am not a gamer so don't know how well it's suited to running games, I know gamers are pretty picky about things that don't effect me for my video work. The build quality is also pretty good, especially the stand. I have mine mounted using a VESA wall mount for convenience so it was a pity to hide the extremely well made stand away in a dark cupboard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High quality item I will keep this simple. It is priced quite accurately since it is a high resolution screen. I have to say at first that the overall quality build and experience while in use is not disappointing what so ever. It delivers what you expect it to. In my example, my desk is DIY and I have two 27inch monitors, one being LG. Side by side. This Asus monitor is placed well forward in front of you in comparison to LG. The stand itself is much higher quality but in my case where I have an 80cm depth desk it's quite close. Just bear in mind that it might need to be placed a little further out in front of you in order to prevent your eyes hurting as it is quite bright in standard setting. Overall 4.5/5 !
