Reviews
2 Port ScanFX HPU-300NC V2 SuperSpeed USB3.0 (NEC) 5Gbps PCI-Express Card is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works in Ubuntu Linux Just sorting out a second-hand HP Windows 7 desktop to dual-boot with Ubuntu but it didn't have enough USB ports. As I fitted this card, I found that the PC didn't have the little 4-pin power connector on its wiring loom neither! I cut the little white plug off an old power supply from a scrap computer and bodged it into the SATA power leads of this one. I switched on and booted into Ubuntu. My new USB 3 sockets worked straight away. I rebooted into Windows 7 and got the immediate message that 'my new hardware was ready for use but dear old Windows couldn't find a driver'! So in went the driver disk and more time wasted installing the driver. It's now working perfectly in Windows as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job for my Astronomy CCD Camera I bought this to add some USB3 ports to my somewhat dated home built I5 W7 PC in my Astro Shed. Needed the ports for image capture. Fitted the card, loaded some drivers, plugged in thje Celestron Skyrix CCD camera and away she went. Not a frame dropped and max throughput. Lovely job, very happy with product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than twice as quick as Intel onboard USB 3.0 I've had one of these in my machine now for over year. I use it with a USB 3.0 to SATA III adapter, also bought from Scan but unfortunately no longer stocked, but you may find it listed elsewhere as a "Aleratec SATA III Drive to USB 3.0 Motherboard Vertical Adapter". I use it to hotplug customers hard drives and backup data. Transfer speed is incredible and saves a lot of time in my line of work. Typical speeds are shown below:- Motherboard (Intel Z77) USB 2.0 - 35MB/s Motherboard (Intel Z77) USB 3.0 - 64MB/s This card - 154MB/s !!! These rates are averages taken while moving a large block of data such as an iso image and are backed up by the amount of time taken. Another reviewer notes an increased boot time but I haven't encountered this.

Questions & Answers

Does this card have an internal header

Hi, my computer case has two USB 3 ports on the front with a wire to attach to the motherboard, but my board doesn't have any such header to attach to (only has external USB3). Just wondering if I could attach the case ports to this card.
Asked by: Richard11
No. This card doesn't have internal headers (which is why it's so cheap!). I have seen that Scan sell cards with internal headers.
