Product Overview Traditional computer fans are made to expel air, so for years, airflow was the most important rating that determines cooling efficiency as most fans are used as exhausts. However, with positive pressure gaining importance in computer cooling technology, SilverStone created Air Penetrator fan specifically designed for intake fan applications, where airflow rating is not a priority. The design goal for Air Penetrator is to focus airflow into a column that can be channeled through various obstacles inside the modern computer case for more efficient cooling performance. Compared with traditional fans, where airflow spreads outward and further looses focus with resistance added (e.g. filters, fan guards, etc…), Air Penetrator fan’s unique blade and grille designs can create enough pressure to push air as far as 1 meter away with minimal fan speed and noise. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for Airflow, Poor for Noise With all the blurb you may think you have the best of both worlds with this fan, not so. I have one of these fitted is standard in the Silverstone TJ08 case. Great for cooling in its high speed setting, all the air volume you could wish for. If you wind the speed of the fan right down wanting a quiet system then the bearing has a constant tick, wind the speed down further and there is the squeal mentioned by the previous reviewer. So not recommended for a quiet system, I'll need to try a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better cooling for your Raven case. Picked up three of the Air Penetrators to replace the stock fans in my Raven RV02. The airflow and cooling has improved overall. At low settings the AP's are as silent as the stock fans but at high settings the AP's are slightly louder. The slight increase in noise at high shouldn't be a problem if you use earphones/headset but it may put off some people looking for a silent system.
