First set of memory was bad and had to be returned.
Second set of memory I could not get to clock to 3200mhz (as per the preprogrammed xmp profile), even with extensive fiddling with bios settings. It seemed to cause system instability irrespective of anything I could control.
There is the possibility that this is related to the motherboard BIOS though, and I am running a gigabyte x99 with Intel 5820k processor. For now I will leave it running on basic frequency (2133 mhz) in the hope that a future BIOS update might fix it and allow xmp to work.
My recommendation: Not worth the risk to buy this memory, considering the cost vs risk of problems.
