LL120 Dual Light Loop RGB Lighting

The Corsair LL120 is made for those PC builders that are seeking excellent airflow, quiet operation and the most powerful lighting put into a case fan. You can control the fan speed with PWM that allows you to dynamically control speed from 600 RPM to 1500 RPM to minimize noise or maximize airflow. With the Triple pack you get the RGB Lighting hub and Lighting Node PRO these allow you to use all the RGB functionallities and get the best effects and patterns.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

I love the LL120 fans, the RGB ring on the outside is bright and incredibly seamless and the inner RGB ring allows for a lot of customisation. I would really recommend these + the Corsair Commander PRO to allow control of all fan LED's and speeds through the iCUE software. My only gripe with these fans would be the 1500RPM max, I wish I could crank some of these fans to 2000RPM when doing some more extreme level overclocking.

However, they are a little hard to wire in, due to the fact that you have to wire the LED's in the fans through a separate cable into 2 LED controllers. Fairly quiet most of the time, however when the computer is under load they tend to get quite noisy in comparison to my other fans.

I previously had a cheap £5~£10 fan in my system, that has lasted over a year, due to the noises it was starting to make, I figure I'd replace it before the bearings give out completely and to splash out a bit. I'd get more airflow if I told a fairy to poof behind the system, I can't feel anything coming out the output end of the system, or feel noticeable suction on the input end of the system. They're also more noticeable noise-wise than their cheaper counterparts, with a low level but persistent 'whirrrrr'. The computer isn't allowed to load iCUE to control the pretty colours, because the software lags too badly to be practical and no, it's definitely not the hardware's fault. I'd give it a 5* on quality, but the ribbon cables are horrifically thin, which probably explains why one of the lighting cables just gave out when I moved it to put the case side back on, that cable isn't coming back to life. But it's got rainbows... So that is OK, right? Never touching another corsair product again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris12 from Vivid and perform well Yes they are expensive and yes you may have to spend even more (for Commander Pro) just to have easier/ more control over their speed. However they really do make an impact. I have a Corsair Crystal 570X Mirrored case and they accent it perfectly. The mirrored glass takes the edge off of the effects - nice as they are, the case sits on the desk to the right of me. Happy to report they haven't caused a distraction (not a negative one anyway). I don't yet have the Commander Pro and my BIOS won't let these fans run at less than 900RPM but they're still quiet. I bought a 3 pack and until I get another 3 fans I won't know about temps or total system noise. Confident in these already. They are almost as bright and as vivid as the pictures show.

do the fans all need to be connected to the motherboard?

do the fans all need to be connected to the motherboard or does it draw power from the sata power connector on the included controller? also, does it only work if there is an rgb header on the motherboard?

Power comes from the Sata power connector and lighting I believe is controlled using the USB interface requiring an internal USB header for full control.

Case fans or radiator fans?

Hi, Please can anyone tell me if these Corsair LL Series 120mm fans are suitable as radiator fans on a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 HYBRID and an Overclocked Skylake X Intel Core i9 7900X with Corsair H100i liquid cooler? To be used along with Corsair LL Series140mm fans as case fan replacements on a tempered glass Fractal Define R6? Many thanks...

These fans can be used in as fans for a Corsair H100i as long as it is the 240mm or 360mm variant. The RGB feature will need to be controlled via the Lighting Node Pro as I do not believe the H100i supports this feature.

These fans are 120mm in size so should work fine. I would however note the RGB portion of the fan control would need to be controlled using the Lighting Node Pro as i do not believe the H100i supports this feature.
