Frequently Bought Together
Product Overview This is by-far our best selling 120mm fan not just for cases but with some of our CPU Coolers too.

S-FLOW fan blade design delivers 30% higher airflow. IP54 moisture and dust protection.

Super silent 12cm fan with S-FLOW blades supplying 30% more airflow than a standard fan at the same speed. The greater performance combined with PWM automatic speed control allows the fan noise to be kept to a minimum.

The Apache fan creates more focused airflow providing blind-spot cooling, which makes it an ideal solution for a case or heatsink fan. HDB (Hydro Dynamic) bearings extend fan life and further enhance noise reduction. IP54 military standard ensures the fan is dust and moisture resistant. It’s powerful, quiet and tough!

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

Watercooling
Date Issued: 19th Jun 2008

Watercooling for the PC has been around for years in some form or another, for at least as long as Scan have been in business, with basic physics defining why you want to use it. That means for air cooling, to cope with increasing temperature in the heatsink you need to move the air across it faster. That is why thermostatically controlled fans in your PC will turn faster the hotter something gets.

Anybody who has been near their share of computer systems will appreciate that not all systems make the same amount of noise. There are a number of reasons for why this is so. Firstly, a computer makes noise for different reasons. Generally, anything mechanical is going to make noise.

120mm Akasa Apache Black Ultra Silent Fan HDB bearing PWM fan w/4 pin connector & Rubber Pins - Retail is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazed by them My PC been sounding like a jet fighter plane for months now, I was putting it down to software problems, as temperature checks were putting everything around 35C Replaced the fans that came with the H100i and I cannot hear them at all, got it set to performance and i can nothing, fans are working great, i was expecting it to be quieter, but its near silent. Going to be replacing my other three fans very soon with these fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks! Awesome looks and pretty quiet. Perfect for low density rads or case fan.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good-ish Bought 4 of these for a complete fan overhaul. I'm running them straight from the PSU which means they're at their full 1300rpm and I can say that they're absolutely not silent. They're well made, have very nicely braided cables and shift a lot of air. But I've owned much quieter fans in the past. If you plan to run these from the PSU I suggest you buy some voltage resistor cables to bottleneck the power going to them as I have done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silent Fitted this as a replacement to my ageing CPU cooler fan, I did not realize how loud the bearings had become on that unit until I fitted this one. Turning the other ones on and off within the case this one was clearly quieter than the rest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool and quiet! Wanted at long last to reduce noise from Corsair 600T. Ditched Corsair fan controller and used Asus Fan Expert ll, replaced the dual fans on the Corsair A70 with the Apache Black....what a difference..same cool temp, overall lower fan speeds and the Apache fans live well up to their name. Together with cable tidy done...great job accomplished!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet but useful These fans are virtually silent at lower speeds and shift a good volume of air when run flat out. I have used them in a few PC builds and have been very pleased with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent fan but may have compatibility problems with newer mobos These have been my favourite 120mm fans since they were released. They shift a reasonable amount of air and are virtually silent until they're going flat out. However, I'm having problems with them on mobos with H87 and Z97 chipsets as the fans won't start in silent mode until the system temperature is higher than I like. I don't know if it's a problem with the chipset or just Gigabyte's implementation but I've had to use the faster Viper fan instead. I'd still recommend this fan but just be aware of where you'll use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the cheapest all-round decent PWM fans I always use these for case fans (unless I want LEDs), they have full PWM control (from about 400RPM), shift plenty of air when turned up and are very quiet at low speed. All in all, just what you need.
