Just as Apple is extremely thorough with the development and testing of new products, they also have very rigorous procedures in place for what they term ‘refurbishing’ products which have been returned or are otherwise not in a perfect, unused condition. Regardless of whether a product was returned due to technical issues or for another reason, all Apple devices undergo the same exhaustive refurbishment process before being offered for sale.
The Apple Refurbishment Process
- The product is fully tested for functionality, with any modules identified as defective being replaced
- The product is rigorously cleaned inside and out, and inspected to make sure it meets Apple’s stringent standards
- It is then repacked with all additional items it would have shipped with when new (cables, manuals, subsidiary boxes and packing materials etc.)
- It will include the operating system with which it originally shipped, or in some cases a more recent version
- It is then given a final QA inspection to ensure everything is in order before it is declared as fit for sale
- Finally it is given special Apple packaging identifying it as an officially refurbished product, and sealed by Apple

Additionally Apple cover all refurbished products under the same one-year warranty you would get when purchasing a new item. This means that should you have any problems with your purchase within that period you can contact Apple immediately for free technical support and assistance.
You may additionally purchase AppleCare to extend the coverage period of your purchase under Apple’s support channels for up to three years from the date of purchase. This service must be purchased directly from Apple, and can be applied to any of the products we sell.
While Apple Certified Refurbished products are a great way to buy genuine Apple products at lower than their original price, stock of each product is usually very limited. We cannot guarantee that we will receive more of an item once our existing stock is sold.
