Firewall

A firewall is a device that monitors network traffic from the outside world to protect against cyber attacks and security threats.

These firewalls offer hardware-based deep packet inspection, linked to various software signatures for protection from anti-virus, anti-spam, or phishing threats. They are often referred to as UTM devices (Unified Threat Management), however If a higher degree of security is required, then a Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) should be considered.
