Heiserman Designed Capsule
Consistent QualityUnited Studio Tech worked with renowned capsule designer and manufacturer Eric Heiserman to develop a new take on the classic K47 German capsule design. Eric worked with the United team and their capsule manufacturer to create a new capsule from the ground up.
The capsule is open, articulate, and very three dimensional. This process required the analysis of everything from the sourced Mylar to the thread types of screws; but after many months and many iterations, everything that was hoped to be achieved has been done with the HZ-Series capsules.
Although many elements of the HZ-Series design will remain a secret, one superior attribute that was revealed is the use of dual, matched backplates. With the HZ-Series matching process, a far more accurate and consistent quality from side to side and capsule to capsule is achieved. The HZ-Series capsule is still manufactured only a few at a time, and meticulously listened to and tested.
Custom Cinemag Transformers
A true piece of artUnited Studio Tech tested many recreations of the original German transformer; but quickly settled on an exceptional offering from Cinemag Transformers in California. Their answer to the classic part is truly a piece of art; a large, hefty transformer made from a ‘striped core’ of interleaved sets of high nickel and steel laminations, and wound to the specs of the original. It‘s humbucking design provides clean and quiet operation.
Although smaller or less expensive transformer could have been used; compromise was not an option and you'll be glad this was the case. This Cinemag transformer was truly everything a microphone fanatic could wish for.
