4K 8MP Ultra-high Definition Video
The C260 records in 4K 8MP resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels), which is significantly sharper than common 1080p or 2K home cameras. This higher resolution helps you clearly identify faces, text, and small details even when zoomed in during playback, and it supports up to 25 fps for smooth motion. The camera uses a 1/2.7" progressive scan CMOS “Starlight” sensor with an F1.6 aperture to improve clarity in lower light before night vision kicks in
360° Pan And 116° Tilt Coverage
A key differentiator is its wide mechanical movement: 360° horizontal pan and 116° vertical tilt, giving near-complete room coverage from a single mount point. Through the Tapo app you can remotely pan, tilt, and digitally zoom (up to 18×) to follow activity or inspect specific areas without physically moving the camera. This makes it suitable as both a security camera and a versatile baby/pet monitor.
AI Human Face Recognition and Smart Detections
The C260 includes free, on-device AI that can recognize and tag familiar faces while flagging strangers, so alerts can be prioritised around unknown people. Beyond face recognition, it supports additional AI detections such as person, pet, and vehicle detection, plus sound-based events like baby crying, dog barking, and cat meowing, along with line-crossing and camera-tampering alerts. These options reduce false alarms and let you tailor notifications to what matters most in your home.
Enhanced Night Vision Up To 40 ft
For low-light and night-time monitoring, the camera uses 850 nm IR LEDs that provide clear black-and-white vision up to around 40 ft (12 m). Combined with the large F1.6 aperture and Starlight sensor, this helps retain usable detail in dim conditions where many lower-end cameras turn grainy or lose definition.
Two-way Audio with Sound and Light Alarms
Built-in microphone and speaker enable two-way audio, so you can listen in and speak through the camera via the app. The C260 can also trigger sound and light alarms on demand, acting as an active deterrent if you spot unwanted activity while reviewing live or recorded footage.
Local microSD Storage and Optional Cloud
Footage can be saved locally on a microSD card up to 512 GB (sold separately), supporting continuous recording and/or motion-triggered clips with loop overwrite. If you prefer off-site backup or extra features, TP-Link’s Tapo Care cloud storage is available as an optional subscription, but core recording and AI features work without it.
Physical Privacy Mode
To address privacy concerns, the C260 offers a physical privacy mode that turns the lens inward so it cannot capture video when you’re at home and don’t want to be monitored. This is a hardware-level privacy shutter rather than just a software “off” switch, giving stronger assurance that the camera isn’t recording.
Dual-band Wi-Fi And Smart Home Integration
The camera connects over Wi-Fi and supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, which can help with stability and performance in busy wireless environments. It integrates with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice control and can be part of broader smart home routines via compatible platforms such as SmartThings.
Flexible Mounting and App Control
The C260 is designed for ceiling or wall mounting using the included bracket, screws, and anchors, and the app supports image inversion for ceiling installs. All settings—motion zones, privacy zones, patrol paths, detection sensitivity, and multi-camera views—are managed through the Tapo mobile app, which also handles setup and firmware updates.
