Rated 1 out of 5 by from Look good but not safe Ive been watercooling for a while now. Ive done over 20 water cooled builds and I normally use EK Compression fittings for hardline pipes. I decided to give these a try after I couldnt source enough silver EK fittings in the correct size. I was initially a little surprised there was no ring to tighten to compress the top o ring into the pipe, but i thought with thermaltake being such a big company that supplies water cooling gear quite a lot, they must know what they are doing. I always use their tubing anyway so I thought its likely to be a good match. I built 2 systems using these fittings at the same time, both were similar and run the aqua computer ultimate pumps, 1 water cooled GPU, 1 water cooled CPU, 2 rads and a water cooled aquaero controller. Nothing too crazy. Initially the fittings seemed to work fine, they ran 24 hours with no power to the board etc as is standard practice and everything was fine. Load tested everything and had no issues and powered down. Fired the machines up the next day (still with the res vented to ensure no pressure build up) after about 30 mins of standard desktop work one of the fittings popped the pipe out and poured water all over everything, the second machine was still running at this time as well (i know i should have turned it off but i was too busy with clean up) and within 20 mins of the first one popping a pipe, the second machine also popped a pipe from the fitting too. The pumps were running with a low flow rate at around 70l/h at the time and the pump had a very low pressure registered with it at around 150mbar. I investigated the failure and can only conclude that although the fittings feel tight enough when inserting the pipe that they must not be! There were no lubricants used during fitting of the pipes, other than pure water. Since this has happened, ive spoken to a few people regarding this and it seems they experienced the same, some within short periods and some after months of operation. The pipes had no sideways movement on them, and were not under any tension and since replacing them with old used ek fittings theres been no issues at all, even when running the pump at full power and manually adding a flow restriction. I did notice that removing the thermaltake fittings from the rest of the pipes, they did feel very well connected and seated but after a small test with compressed air and water i discovered it doesnt take much for them to pop off. Ive used EK "adapter" style push fittings on hard pipes before, similar to the thermaltake ones in operation and without any top to tighten and these have never failed on anything ive built. My own recommendation would be to avoid these fittings and buy EK instead, there may be other good fittings, but after this experience, ill personally only use EK fittings in future, lesson learnt. Hope this helps someone avoid the same as me
