The 26.5" maximum scale length gives the lower strings a little more tension, which is particularly useful for heavier tunings and low-register riffing. Further up the neck, the shorter scale keeps the playing feel more familiar, making the S-457 a practical option for modern metal, progressive rock and technical playing styles.

The roasted poplar body is topped with spalted poplar, finished in Trans Blue to show off the figuring. A roasted maple neck and maple fingerboard complete the construction, giving the guitar a contemporary feel that suits its extended-range design. The 14" fingerboard radius and 48mm nut width provide the space needed for seven-string playing without making the neck unnecessarily awkward.

A pair of Spira Villain humbuckers provides the S-457 with a powerful HH pickup configuration. The 24 jumbo frets give you plenty of room for lead work, while the fixed bridge provides a solid platform for alternate tunings and heavier picking.
