Product Overview

Multifunction 2.5-Inch Drive Enclosure

SilverStone's TS15 is a multifunction 2.5-inch drive enclosure that can house a single 2.5-inch HDD/SSD. It has dual Type-C ports, one for USB 3.1 Gen 1 data transmission and another with USB Power Delivery for up to 60W charging capability. There are also two additional USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports with one of them meeting USB Battery Charging (BC) 1.2 standard to deliver up to 1.5A for quick charging. For connected 2.5" drive, the TS15 supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) for enhanced data transfer performance.

Greatly Benefit from This Design

All in all, the TS15 sets a new benchmark for multifunction in an external storage device. Notebook computer users such as those with MacBooks that has only a single USB Type-C port will greatly benefit from this design. In addition to providing access to an external hard drive, it expands the number of available USB ports so users can access multiple USB devices while charging their notebook at the same time.

Features
• USB 3.1 Type-C connector for reversible-plug and 5Gbps transfer speed.
• Type-C charging port supports up to 60W for independent power delivery.
• Additional dual USB 3.1 ports provide peripheral expansion.
• Aluminium alloy body supports any 2.5" hard drive (up to 9.5mm).
• Supports UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) function for even faster performance.

The arrival of the solid-state drive (SSD) has revolutionised the speed at which modern PCs perform common tasks. This is because SSDs have no moving parts, compared to larger, bulkier mechanical drives, thus they store information on memory chips. This means that accesses, reads and writes are many, many times faster

One of the greatest advances for PCs in recent years has been the introduction of solid-state drives (SSD). These storage drives hold information on flash memory that is managed by a processing chip called a controller. Advantages of SSDs over traditional spinning disks are numerous, from silent operation, lower power to significantly faster performance.

Silverstone TS15B External USB 3.1 Type C 2.5" HDD/SSD Enclosure Case for 2.5" SSD/HDD, SATA III Aluminum, Black is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great caddy This caddy was to replace a vastly cheaper but faulty as delivered product from another supplier. After one bad experience i was willing to pay more for something that works. This works great and the built in hub is very handy as I can plug other things into it on alptops with few USB ports.

Does this come with any cables?

I need to put a ssd into this and use it as an external source. I shall be plugging it into a USB-A connector on my laptop. Can you confirm which cable I need?
Asked by: tonyG72
It comes with a C to C cable so you will need to buy a decent A to C cable. (I nicked the one out of the last faulty caddy i was supplied).
