Sequential’s ‘Prophet-6’ Module is the legendary Dave Smith’s tribute to his iconic analogue polysynth, the ‘Prophet-5’. This desktop modular version sports the very same controls as the popular keyboard version, minus the pitch/mod wheels and keyboard transpose. In Dave Smith’s own words, “It’s not a reissue, it’s vintage with a modern twist!”.
The real driving force behind this 6-voice analogue synth lies in the two discrete VCOs and sub oscillator. Looking deeper inside this powerful beast you’ll find two discrete filters for each voice, digital dual effects section, analogue stereo distortion, integrated arpeggiator and step-sequencer, knob-per-function top panel, and a new poly chain features which allows you to link any two Sequential Prophet-6s for awesome 12 voice polyphony!

Cutting-Edge Analogue Synth Power
modern, yet classic & iconicAt the heart of the Modular Prophet-6 lie two newly designed voltage-controlled oscillators, backed by sub oscillator for each voice. These cool modern analogue oscillators feature consistently variable waveshapes with triangle, sawtooth and variable-width pulse waves.
There’re 2 discrete filters for each voice which serve up incredible tone-shaping potential, a four-pole, resonant lowpass, and a two-pole resonant highpass. There’s voltage-controlled amplifiers too to round off the Prophet-6’s fully analogue signal path.
Studio-Grade Dual Effects Engine
in-depth dual effects sectionSequential Prophet-6 features an in-depth dual effects section which serves up professional-grade reverbs, delays, chorus and phase shifter. Whilst all the effects are digital, with full 24-bit/48kHz resolution, true bypass keeps your pure-analogue signal path intact. You’ll also find a fully analogue independent stereo distortion effect.
Way back in the 80’s the Prophet-5’s polyphony and patch memory were vast achievements; built-in effects were a long way off!
Poly mod and polyphonic step sequencerOf all the Prophet-5’s impressive features, one of the most important ones was the ‘Poly Mod’. The Prophet-6 Module carries on where its predecessor left off, with a few tweaks and improvements. Like the previous model, the Prophet-6’s modulation sources are Filter, Envelope and Oscillator 2. Potential destinations include Oscillator 1 frequency, Oscillator 1 shape, Oscillator 1 pulse width, lowpass filter cutoff and highpass filter cutoff.
Long-time fans of the Prophet range of synths will be pleased to see Unison mode make a welcome return too.
The onboard polyphonic step sequencer allows for up to 64 steps and a maximum of 6 notes for each step, enabling you to layer sequences polyphonically, with rests and external MIDI clock sync.

The Prophet-6 desktop module is every bit as powerful and easy to use as its counterpart, the Prophet-6 Keyboard. The module has all of the same controls as the keyboard version and provides the same immediacy and easy of use — with absolutely no menu diving. As with the Prophet-6 Keyboard, all parameters are at your fingertips, with full-sized knobs and switches and a comfortable, intuitive layout.
