A Legendary SynthThe Sequential Prophet-5 Desktopis Dave Smith’s ten-voice version of the revolutionary analog poly synth that changed everything. Considered as the best of all Prophet synths, it combines all three recreations of the legendary Prophet-5 synth. Including Rev1, Rev2, and Rev3, through the use of real Curtis analog VCOs and filters (as found in the Rev3) along with new 2140 low-pass filters created by Dave Rossum, like the 2040 filters he designed in the original Rev1 and Rev2. The Rev switch lets you select between the two filter designs. The result is an outstanding, honest recreation of an analog classic, with the authentic, huge sound of the original and the reliability of a world class modern instrument.

Vintage Sound
Vintage ControlAlong with finding genuine Prophet-5 hardware components, Sequential did extensive research into what made the original synth sound warm, organic, and. It was discovered that much of this desirable character was down to slight fluctuations and differences in the response times and frequencies of each of the VCOs, filters, envelopes, and amplifiers between each voice.
To give the Prophet-5 the same characteristics, Sequential designed the Vintage knob. This can be used dial in as much experimental old school characteristics as you wish. From a very stable “4” as in Prophet-5 Rev4, which is now referred to as the new version in house. All the way to “1,” as in Prophet-5 Rev1, the rarest and most complex of all Prophet-5s.
Poly Mod & Enhanced Unison
True To The OriginalIn addition to the recognisable tone of its oscillators and filters, a majority of the classic sound of the Prophet-5 was the result of Poly Mod, which is certainly present with the Prophet-5. True to the original, modulation sources are Filter Envelope and Oscillator B. Destinations feature Oscillator A frequency, Oscillator A pulse width, and low-pass filter.
The variation of sounds possible defy its simplicity. Another welcome feature is Unison mode, this now includes configurable voice count (1-5 voices) with variable detuning, and chord memory. With Glide now working both in and out of Unison.

What You See Is What You HearThe pure power of the Prophet-5 is matched its intuitive method of programming. The knob-per-function on the front panel gives you instant fulfilment and direct access to all the sound-shaping controls. Toggling off the Preset button engages live panel mode, where the Prophet-5 switches to the current settings of its knobs and switches.
What you see is what you hear. Included in the Prophet-5 are 200 permanent factory programs and 200 rewritable user programs, including the original 40-program sound set from 1978 which can be found on countless recordings and film soundtracks throughout history.
