Huge power and stunning responseThe RCF NX 985-A is a three-way active speaker expertly designed from the ground up to deliver stellar audio performance for Bands, DJs, Clubs, and Rental Companies. The best-in-class combination of RCF premium transducers and a two-channel 2100W amplifier produce coherent 100° x 60° coverage for the listening area with up to 138 dB SPL of distortion-free sound.
The three-way design features a 1.75" neodymium compression driver with a constant directivity waveguide, 8" cone midrange on a phase-coherent waveguide, and a 15" high power woofer. Used as a stand-alone speaker, flown, coupled with another NX 985-A or used with the RCF SUB 8008-AS subwoofer, the NX 985-A delivers extreme SPL output at all frequencies with high performance and reliability. The rugged, tour-ready, high-quality all-plywood cabinet is easy to carry and secure to install using the dedicated rigging points available.

Power That Moves
The most powerful amplifier in its classRCF have improved their transducer design to make them stronger and more powerful. With 2100W of power, the 2-channel NX 9 Class-D amplifier is 50% more powerful than previous models, capable of managing extreme sound pressure levels with an ultra-fast attack, realistic transient response, and very low heat loss.
NX 9 is energy-efficient, removing the need for a cooling fan - the amplifier is attached to a solid aluminum heat exchanger in the rear of the cabinet - with no moving parts. The input circuit features a new low distortion design with an advanced safety limiter, maintaining the true character of the input signal at all levels. All NX 9 amplifiers are designed according to EN62368-1 for maximum safety and present a Switch Mode Power Supply section joining high-efficiency with minimum weight.
Superior Transducers
maximum reliabilityThe transducers are designed by RCF engineers in Italy for maximum reliability and perfectly matched components. The extended clarity of the 1.75" compression driver features a neodymium magnet for improved current handling and less weight. The best-in-class peek dome and the Polyamide/Kapton voice coil handle extreme power levels with very low distortion.
The midrange section adds detail and vocal clarity with a high-power 8" cone midrange on a constant directivity waveguide. One high-power 15" low-frequency woofer with a new advanced transducer design gains more stability over higher currents, with less distortion, fast transient response, and better heat handling.
Bass Motion Control
extended linearityWhen looking for an extended bass with enhanced performance, RCF engineers found a way to remove the high-pass filter, replacing it with a forward-thinking approach. Introducing BMC (Bass Motion Control), the newly advanced woofer excursion management feature. The speaker equipped with BMC can handle the lowest audible frequencies without affecting the woofer stability, with extended linearity and better sound integrity.
The BMC method works by creating a complete map of the dynamic behavior of the woofer, to generate a custom algorithm that only limits over-excursions. This gives total freedom of signal reproduction to the transducer. When high-pass filters normally protect the woofer motion from becoming destructive but change the phase behavior, the new BMC algorithm breaks conventional rules.

FiR phase technologyRCF speakers are designed using a proprietary and advanced digital FiR technology, made to deliver transparent sound, ultimate clarity, and perfect imaging to the listener.
The special FiRPHASE filters allow for coherent distribution of sound for all listeners without phase distortions, ensuring minimum latencies in the system.

improved coverageNX 985-A is a large main system for highly demanding applications. Its flexibility makes it a smart choice for a wide range of live sound applications. The rugged, high-quality all-wood cabinet is easy to carry, with ergonomic handles on each side.
It can be coupled for improved coverage and can also be flown or truss-mounted using the included M10 rigging points and special accessories. From the cabinet to the final texture and the rugged protective grille, NX 985-A provides maximum strength for intensive use on the road and can be used for fixed installation.

The speaker features True Outdoor Protection (TOP) PowerCON TRUE1 power input connectors. These ruggedized sealed connectors feature IP protection and UV resistance approved according to UL50E.
