QNAP TL-R1620SDC JBOD Expansion
The 3U 16-bay TL-R1620SDC SAS 12Gb/s expansion enclosure is equipped with dual controllers, an OLED indicator, and a short-depth rackmount design, making it perfect for expanding the capacity of dual-controller QNAP NAS systems. Each controller features three Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8644) ports, supporting 12Gbps SAS and Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimisation. The dual path mini-SAS design ensures continuous operation, even if an external JBOD cable is disconnected. Daisy-chaining up to 7 TL-R1620Sdc units via high-speed Mini-SAS HD cables allows for scalability and high reliability in various storage applications.
Failure Resistant — Dual Path Design
Hook up the TL-R1620SDC to a dual-controller QNAP NAS and set up a cross-loop setup for expansion units as a backup. This ensures there are contingent paths to the main NAS and as a result, secures JBOD connections. Even if some paths to the TL-R1620Sdc are lost, other expansion units can still link up with the main NAS. This is crucial for safeguarding data between machines and expanding capacity for important business operations without any interference.
SAS DataBolt Technology
With Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimisation technology, the TL-R1620Sdc comes equipped with a smart data buffer that ensures data is transferred to drives at the same speed as the host NAS. Regardless of whether the TL-R1620Sdc is using 12Gb/s or 6Gb/s drives, the NAS host will send data to the unit at 12Gb/s, enabling you to enjoy the advantages of high-speed SAS transmission on a 6Gb/s infrastructure.
Intelligent Storage
Simply connect a TL-R1620Sdc to a dual-controller QNAP NAS and power it on. The NAS will detect the drives in the TL-R1620Sdc as newly-installed local drives. By using the Storage Manager app on the host NAS, you can configure and manage the unit's storage space by setting RAID groups, storage pools and snapshots. The TL-R1620Sdc can also be configured as the storage volume of the host NAS, allowing you to easily expand NAS storage to accommodate massive data or backup files.
SAS to SATA Adapter
SATA 6Gb/s SSDs offer fast and budget-friendly storage, but they're not ideal for dual-controller setups due to the lack of dual-port support. The QDA-SA2 adapter solves this issue by allowing the use of a SATA 6Gb/s drive in a 3.5-inch SAS drive bay, making it possible to increase storage capacity with cost-effective SATA drives. When a SATA drive with the QDA-SA2 is installed into the dual-controller TL-R1620Sdc, it can take advantage of SAS dual-port benefits, ensuring a reliable enterprise storage environment.
