The Digital EngineThe JD-XA doesn’t just do classic analog, it’s also features a completely separate four-part, 64-voice digital sound engine powered by Roland’s renowned SuperNATURAL synthesizer technology. This allows you to play some of the most expressive and natural sounds available, as the JD-XA is compatible with the synth engine from the INTEGRA-7 sound module, a common favourite of top producers, composers, and sound designers. If ever you need some extra inspiration, Roland’s online Axial community features the latest downloadable creations from high-end programmers to tap into great sounds for a wide range of styles.
The Analog EngineEach of the JD-XA's four analog parts has two oscillators and filter and amp sections with four envelopes, all with incredibly fast attack and response times. You also get two LFOs, with super-smooth coverage from ultra-slow to ultra-fast. Begin by creating your sound from scratch, or configure the JD-XA as an eight-oscillator, pure analog version of the iconic Supersaw waveform. Alternatively, use the power of Poly Stack mode for warm, organic four-note chords that will sweep you away. Once you've got that rich analog sound, you can route it directly to the analog dry output or send it to the onboard digital effects for further sound designing experiments.

Power & VersatilityFeaturing a distinctive crossover design, the JD-XA is very unique in its approach to synthesis. You can blend the engines together if you likes, or you can use them completely separately, giving you two synths in one. Along with this, the analog and digital engines are able to interact in many creative ways.
As an example, digital sounds can be routed through the analog filters, or used as modulation sources for the Cross Mod and Ring Mod functions in the analog section. If you have big ideas when creating sound design, you need a powerful synth with versatility, which can all be found in the JD-XA.

Vibrant CharacteristicsThe filters in the analog section of the JD-XS are 100% analog, providing smoothin and warm sound with organic response. It features the traditional 4-pole, transistor ladder with more vibrant characteristics, along with a multi-mod filter option for the crucial LPF, HPF and BPF operations.
With a brand new circuit design, the resonance of the multi-mode filter provides a uniquely aggressive and effective sound character. As the filters are fully analog, you get an incredibly smooth slope as you turn the controls without any stepping or unwanted noise.
Powerful Effects
Versatile MFX ProcessorThe JD-XA is packed with a wide variety of effects ready to take on any sound shaping application. Each analog and digital section is equipped with a versatile and powerful MFX processor that gives you 67 different types of effect, including high-impact processing options such as Bit Crusher.
It also features the essentials using the five system effects processors, which give you reverb, delay, master EQ and two TFX processors each with 29 different effects types each.
16-Track Pattern Sequencer
Real-Time & Step RecordingWith an array of sonic power at reach, you'll be eager to get straight into creating music. To spark your creativity, the JD-XA features a comprehensive 16-track pattern sequencer with 8 tracks for internal parts and 8 tracks for external sources, giving you the option to build sequences and loops quickly, with ease.
You can use the real-time recording mode to caputure sections in a familiar linear style, or use step recording mode to create in the traditional pattern style. This sequencer is designed to keep you connected to your music no matter how you choose to work, allowing your creative flow to work at full capacity.
Mic-Controlled Modulation
Built-In VocoderThe mic input found on the JD-XA gives you even more creative tools for your music. You can use the mic as a modulation source and control the filter cutoff, Cross Mod, or other paramaters using your voice.
Or, you can dial up Vocoder tones, or just add some pro-grade vocal reverb using the mic's dedicated reverb processor. If you want to speak, sing or synthesize, when used with a microphone, the JD-XA is sure to deliver.
USB Interface & CV/Gate Outputs
Controls Analog EquipmentThe JD-XA comes with an integrated USB audio/MIDI interface for working perfectly with a DAW of your choice. It also features two CV/GATE outputs so you can easily interface it with your favourite CV/GATE instruments.
Analog or modular synths can be controlled straight from the JD-XA's keyboard or pattern sequencer, or directly from your DAW when the JD-XA is being used with your computer music set up by USB.
Powerful & Flexible Routing
Hands-On ControlPower, without control, is nothing. The interface of the JD-XA is made with the potential of its incredble sound engines in mind. The velocity-sensitive keyboard comes with aftertouch, and you get plenty of backlit sliders, controls and wheel controllers to edit your sound. You'll also find unprecedented routing options, thanks to the versatile system that allows you to route a single mod source to four different areas. Along with this, you can control external modules or DAW plug-ins using MIDI, USB and CV/GATE, so this synth fits in perfectly at the centre of any live or studio set up.
