Dynamic Studio Microphone
with Hypercardioid Polar Pattern
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what a Neumann mic would sound like with your electric guitar, bass or kick drum in your recordings, but didn’t fancy the idea of placing a vastly expensive condenser mic in front of a booming guitar cab or kick drum, wonder no longer! For the very first time in Neumann’s rich 75-year history, Neumann's inaugural dynamic mic is here, the ‘BCM 705’.
The dynamic BCM 705 is priced considerably lower than the company’s popular ‘BCM 104’ condenser mic, and will therefore address the problem of the huge costs involved in equipping a studio with an abundance of mics. Designed primarily to be a top-tier broadcast mic, the Neumann BCM 705 is also more than capable of handling vocal duties around the studio too!

'Emotion with Perfection'
built-in pop shieldBroadcast media is a much quicker way to reach your listeners than audio recording. For this reason, Neumann developed a range of microphones to specifically address the requirements from radio DJs, announcers, newscasters, talk show hosts and podcasters.
The BCM 705 is engineered to convey emotion with perfection. Its charismatic form is functionally optimised for use with industry standard microphone boom arms. Thanks to it’s elastic microphone mount and a newly designed internal capsule suspension, the the BCM 705 is doubly protected against rumble. An internal foam screen protects the capsule from “pops” as well as dirt, moisture and nicotine. For increased hygiene, the headgrille twists off easily for quick cleaning.
'Dynamic'
‘the sound of FM’The BCM 705 is a dynamic mic with a free-moving coil capsule. Dynamic capsules are reliably tough and sturdy, and while they do sound less organic than condenser transducers, carefully designed mics such as the BCM 705, exhibit a distinctive appeal which has become known as ‘the sound of FM’, especially in the US with the tradition of private radio.
The BCM 705 is perfect for local radio stations and smaller studios.
Its hypercardioid pattern and close-speech optimized capsule help to keep unwanted noises off air. The BCM 705’s frequency response is specifically tailored for the human voice. A gentle presence boost above 2 kHz enhances speech intelligibility, while a soft bass roll-off compensates for the proximity effect, creating a low-end which is full but never boomy. The BCM 705 does not require phantom power and is extremely easy to setup: Simply connect it to a microphone input, and you’re ready to go on air!
