Product Overview

Cool and Quiet

The NH-L9i is a premium quality quiet CPU cooler for Intel LGA115x based HTPCs and Small Form Factor systems. At a super-low profile of only 37mm, the NH-L9i is ideal for extremely slim cases and due to its 95x95mm footprint, it provides full compatibility with tall RAM modules and VGA cards on mini-ITX mainboards. The custom designed SecuFirm2 mounting system for LGA115x makes installation child’s play and thanks to the highly optimised NF-A9x14 premium fan that supports fully automatic speed control via PWM, the NH-L9i runs remarkably quiet. Topped off with Noctua’s renowned NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-L9i fuses everything users have come to expect from Noctua’s larger coolers into a super-compact package for slim HTPC systems.

37mm Low Profile

Due to the slim 23mm heatsink and the NF-A9x14 low profile fan that measures only 14mm in thickness, the NH-L9 stands a mere 37mm tall, which makes it ideal for use in compact HTPCs or Small Form Factor cases that offer minimum clearance for CPU coolers.

100% RAM compatibility

The NH-L9i has a 95x95mm footprint that complies exactly with the Intel LGA115x socket keep-out zone. This means that it won’t cause issues with chipset coolers and doesn’t overhang the RAM slots, so it is fully compatible with tall memory modules.

100% Compatibility with PCIe Cards on Mini-ITX

Most Intel LGA115x based mini-ITX mainboards have the PCIe slot sitting right next to the 95x95mm socket zone. While larger coolers that exceed this zone are likely to block the PCIe slot, the 95x95xmm sized NH-L9i provides full compatibility with PCIe cards.

NF-A9x14 PWM Premium Fan

The highly optimised NF-A9x14 premium fan features Noctua’s proprietary AAO frame as well as sophisticated aerodynamic design measures. Supporting PWM for fully automatic speed control, the NF-A9x14 allows the NH-L9i to stay remarkably quiet.

Low-Noise Adaptor

Allowing a reduction of the maximum speed of the NF-A9x14 fan from 2500 to 1800rpm, the included Low-Noise Adaptor (L.N.A.) makes it possible to achieve near-silent setups using CPUs with less than 65W TDP.

Custom-Designed SecuFirm2 Mounting for LGA115x

The NH-L9i bundles a custom-designed, backplate-less SecuFirm2 mounting system for LGA115x that offers extended compatibility with mini-ITX boards and makes installation easier than ever, all while maintaining the trusted SecuFirm2 quality.

NT-H1 Thermal Compound

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.

• 37mm low profile.
• 100% RAM compatibility.
• 100% compatibility with PCIe cards on mini-ITX.
• NF-A9x14 PWM premium fan.
• Compatible with Intel LGA1150/1151/1155/1156.
• Six years manufacturer's warranty.

The NH-L9i is a highly-compact low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Please consult the TDP guideline to find out whether the NH-L9i is recommended for your CPU.

Intel Branding Part I
Intel Branding Part I
Date Issued: 1st Jul 2009

Intel’s been on a mission of late. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

There’s been a lot of hype about Intel’s Core 2 recently, even since they launched Core in fact. Words like Conroe, Badaxe and Allendale have been flying around. The bottom line is that Core 2 is the name of Intel’s latest line of CPUs, based on a new micro-architecture, designed for speed and efficiency.

Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile CPU Cooler, 1x 92mm PWM Fan, Quiet, Aluminium Fins, Copper Base/Heatpipes, Intel Only is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my shizzle frizzle I had the stock cooler on a i7 7700, not overclocked and it was reaching jet engine volume so often, I added this and the temps seriously lowered 10 degrees and the dBs are much much lower. I had to feck about with the bios to turn off the sensors for functionality, it seems to have just one speed ? but it works and quieter. I did run many temp monitors on ultra def in doom eternal etc watching the core temps. This works, hands down, good seller too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised That I had to remove motherboard to install but after removing original mounting bracket and installing Noctua supplied bracket all went well - fan runnuing at low speed and almost silent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best slim fan for SFX cases with low clearance I got this for my silverstone sg13 and works flawlesly, as long as you understand its limitations. It is not a fan for CPU that run hot, but it will work perfectly as long as you first dont overclock and/or second you dont exceed 95 W TDP. Build quality is excellent, when you open it feels premium, installation is as easy as it gets, and looks great, fits perfectly most if not all (ITX). Runs silent as well. So as long as you use a processor that doesnt run hot you will be fine, otherwise you might need to underclock. Remember to install the fins parallel to the RAM. While I got this to run on my 9700k stock temperatures would be on the high 40s when idle and over 85 degrees during CPU-Z stress tests. I did not run prime 95 on this fan since temperatures would have likely reach 100C.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is Noctua! Well i have this on a 4690K not oc'd and in a ML08 case without case fans, guess what? It is a Noctua, temps are awesome and this little cooler punches way above its weight. great cooler for small form factor cases. 4690K idles at around the 40 degrees mark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect low profile cooler Used in my HTPC build and very happy with it, extremely quiet. Will be buying Noctua fans for my next build.
Date published: 2017-05-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best CPU fan I've ever owned Quiet, good quality, very well packaged, comes with everything you need including thermal paste and even a metal Noctua badge for your case. The mounting works really well and feels very solid compared with the cheap Intel stock CPU coolers. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works It is compact, quiet and works! Too early to comment on reliability. What else can one say?

Hi, Will this be sufficient to cool an Intell I7 4770k (LN50784)? Or will i need something bigger?
Asked by: JR1993
it would probably cool the cpu better than the stock intel cooler, but if you are thinking of overclocking you will need something bigger

Is this recommended for a MATX case?

I use a Corsair Obsidian 350D and want a new, quieter cpu cooler for gaming. I assume that although this is designed for ITX that it will work just fine in MATX?
