The XR-DW2 antenna driver is engineered to detect "tag placement" and "tag removals," while processing extra data from NTAG213 RFID tags, such as the Unique Identifier (UID) and custom text fields. It also allows for writing data onto NFC tags, including the Tag number and custom text labels. This capability makes the XR-DW2 an excellent choice for complex or large-scale NFC applications where tags need to be dynamically updated or overwritten.
Seamless Integration with Xperience Controllers
Connecting the XR-DW2 to any Nexmosphere Xperience controller is straightforward, using an X-talk cable. The driver’s settings can be programmed on the controller, ensuring seamless integration into your digital signage setup. The interface is user-friendly, with plug-and-play functionality, and the driver is fully compatible with all Nexmosphere Xperience controllers, which also provide power and configuration.
UID and Tag Number Functionality
A standout feature of the XR-DW2 is its ability to read the UID of an NTAG213 tag, a unique code that can identify the tag and link it to specific information in a database. The system detects whether a tag has been placed or removed, offering real-time updates to connected digital signage players. Additionally, the XR-DW2 can write and read a “Tag number” adjustable between 1 and 65,535, allowing multiple tags to share the same number. This flexibility is invaluable in scenarios where tags are frequently replaced without requiring system reprogramming.
Custom Text Labels and NTAG213 Tags
Moreover, the XR-DW2 supports writing and reading custom text labels on RFID tags. These labels can store data such as product details or visitor preferences, with three fields available, each holding up to 16 characters. This feature is particularly useful in dynamic applications like displaying product information on screens or tracking visitor activity. The ability to both read and overwrite these labels allows the system to adapt to changing needs.
Tag Compatibility and Additional Features
The XR-DW2 is compatible with NTAG213 tags, commonly used in RFID applications due to their reliability. Operating at a frequency of 13.56 MHz, these tags are available in various sizes, including Nexmosphere’s default tags with a 28mm diameter and a white-coated sticker back. While the XR-DW2 works with any NTAG213, smaller tags will have a lower detection range. Additional features include the ability to lock or unlock NTAG213 tags with a password, detect up to four tags simultaneously, and automatically calibrate and start up for reliable 24/7 operation. The status LED provides a visual cue when a tag is detected, further enhancing usability in various applications.
