INTRODUCING MK2 STUDIO MONITORS
The mk2 range from HEDD improve further a fantastic product line, which itself was the result of decades of speaker technology research. It follows on from designer Klaus Heinz work at Adam Audio where he was responsible for many legendary models such as the incredibly popular A7X. All models retain the AMT (Air Motion Transformer) driver that provides sharp and fast treble and combines it with two new technologies for making the speakers more accurate and responsive.
Firstly, they have now integrated the lineariser DSP plugin that accompanied the first-generation units inside the speaker itself. This works by slightly delaying certain frequencies so that all of them leave the speaker at exactly the same time, resulting in a perfect, phase coherent impulse response. The listener will sense the that the bass notes will appear much punchier and tighter, especially in the sub octaves, as lower waves take longer to develop than the treble frequencies, alongside an improves spatial response. Surprisingly the integrated version has less latency than the previous plugin, coming in at only 10ms.

pin-point transient responseThe other addition from adding the DSP in box is that in enables the “COP” (closed or ported) option. Since the inception of loudspeakers, there have been 2 differing design approaches to achieve a good bass response: closed box design which made the Yamaha NS-10’s & Neumann KH310 so revered and bass reflex speakers, or ported designs.
By offering removable plugs for the bass ports, in tandem with advanced FIR (Finite Impulse Response filtering), HEDD now offers users the choice between both of these worlds: A pin-point transient response/optimum accuracy (closed cabinet approach) or the advantages of a dynamic and low-reaching bass-ported design with greater SPL Closing the ports obviously affects the tonal balance, so there is a switch on the rear of the unit to change the balance accordingly to compensate.
Adding the DSP also has an additional advantage for connectivity, as alongside the analogue input, it is now also possible to digitally connect directly to the speakers using AES digital signals over XLR connection and includes a though socket to connect to additional speakers.

Isolation Pad for Studio Monitors 170 x 300 mmThe ‘Pad Eco 1’ monitor isolation pads from Adam Hall have been designed to isolate your studio monitors acoustically, which reduces disturbing resonance from the surface upon which they’re placed. This significantly improves your monitors response, which of course means a greater platform from which to mix/master.
The Pad Eco 1 features a two-component design which allows for 3 possible combinations – a horizontal placement and 2 further angles. The Eco 1 will work perfectly fine sitting on top of a desktop, or equally well on monitor stands.

These cables are perfect for connecting interfaces and mixers with 1/4" jack outputs with most powered monitors including Genelec and the Adam AX Series, which don't have jack sockets.
These provide a balanced connection (if your device supports it) to reduce susceptibility to external noise and help avoid groundloop problems.

The New Network Remote Control for MK2 Monitors
Free app!HEDD CTRL is a free application for mac or PC that enables remote control of the Mk2 monitors. You can now disable the lineariser for low latency monitoring, then re-enable it for mixing with the phase correction active without having to go to the rear of the speaker. CTRL also now enables you change crossover points, volume & 10 band Parametric EQ adjustments inside of each speaker without needing room correction plugins or EQ on your master or monitor bus. You can get these measurements based on the analysis of your room with free programs such as the excellent Room EQ wizard.
