AMD Ryzen AM4 Platform

The PRO B550M-P uses the AMD B550 chipset and AM4 socket, supporting AMD Ryzen 5000 Series, 5000 G-Series, 4000 G-Series, 3000 Series, and 3000 G-Series desktop processors. This provides a flexible platform for building systems around a broad range of compatible Ryzen CPUs.

High-Speed DDR4 Memory

Four DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 128GB of system memory, with dual-channel operation and A-XMP overclocking support for memory speeds of up to 4400+ MT/s under supported configurations. The board supports non-ECC unbuffered memory, with achievable speeds dependent on the installed processor and memory configuration.

PCIe 4.0 Graphics Connectivity

The primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot connects directly to the processor, providing high-bandwidth connectivity for compatible graphics cards and expansion hardware. Two additional PCIe 3.0 x1 slots, supplied through the chipset, provide further expansion options for compatible peripherals and add-in cards.

Lightning Gen 4 M.2 Storage

Two M.2 slots provide fast NVMe storage expansion, with the primary M.2 slot supporting PCIe 4.0 x4 or SATA mode and the secondary slot supporting PCIe 3.0 x4. Both accommodate 2242, 2260, and 2280 M.2 devices, while four SATA 6Gbps ports provide additional storage connectivity. RAID 0 and RAID 1 are supported for M.2 NVMe storage, while SATA storage supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and RAID 10.

Core Boost Power Delivery

MSI Core Boost technology combines an optimised motherboard layout and power design to provide precise current delivery to the CPU. This supports multi-core processors while creating suitable conditions for CPU overclocking, helping provide stable performance during demanding workloads.

Intelligent System Cooling

The PRO B550M-P incorporates MSI's Frozr AI Cooling technology, which monitors CPU and GPU temperatures and automatically adjusts system fan duty to help maintain appropriate cooling performance. Dedicated CPU and system fan headers provide connection points for compatible cooling solutions, while the chipset heatsink is designed to maintain efficient heat dissipation.

Front USB Type-C Connectivity

A front-panel USB 5Gbps Type-C header provides convenient connectivity for compatible modern PC cases and front-mounted peripherals. Additional internal headers support USB 5Gbps Type-A and USB 2.0 connections, while the rear I/O provides USB 5Gbps Type-A and USB 2.0 ports for external devices.

A Realtek RTL8111H 1Gbps LAN controller provides wired network connectivity for gaming, streaming, productivity, and everyday online use. MSI AI LAN Manager can automatically classify and prioritise latency-sensitive applications, allowing gaming traffic to take priority and enabling users to customise application bandwidth allocation.

Enhanced Audio

The integrated Realtek ALC897 codec provides 7.1-channel High Definition Audio. MSI Audio Boost combines a high-definition audio processor, high-quality audio capacitors and audio connectors, an isolated analogue structure, and de-pop protection to provide a cleaner audio experience for gaming, media, and everyday use.

EZ DIY System Management

MSI's EZ DIY features simplify installation, troubleshooting, and system configuration. EZ Debug LEDs help identify hardware issues during startup, while EZ Mounting is designed to simplify motherboard installation. Click BIOS 5 provides access to A-XMP, M-FLASH, hardware monitoring, Memory Try It, and other system configuration tools, while MSI Center brings compatible MSI utilities together in a single interface.
