MSI 1080 ARMOR Style

The MSI ARMOR graphics cards has been designed with case modders and gamers who are looking for something different in mind. Inspired by advanced armour shielding with a classy black and white finish. The GTX 1080 ARMOR is where gaming meets class.

Underneath the classy appearance of the GTX 1080 ARMOR and its powerful dual fans is an impressive heatsink with countless aluminum fins combine with copper heat-pipes, each helping to dissipate the heat from the GPU.

The aluminum fins within the ARMOR 1080 graphics card are rigged with Airflow Control technology to maximize airflow toward the heat-pipes.

Another great technology embedded within this GeForce GTX 1080 are its heat-pipes. These pipes are made from copper and are infused in the base-plate to ensure the most efficient cooling possible.

Fans Spinning
During intense gaming or benchmarking

Fans Stop
Completely silent during idle, multimedia or light gaming

MSI GTX 1080 FROZR Cooling

MSI released this technology in 2008 and it has since become an industry standard among graphics cards. FROZR will eliminate fan noise by stopping the fans in low-load situations, meaning you can keep focus on your gaming, streaming or other media without the noise of spinning fans.

Dispersion Fan Blade
Intake more airflow to maximize air dissipation to heat sink.

Traditional Fan Blade
Maximizes downwards airflow and air dispersion to the massive heat sink below them.

Stay Cool With 2x Torx Fans

ARMOR 2X thermal design is equipped with two of MSIs award winning TORX fans. Thanks to the patented blade design, MSI TORX fans provide strong cooling performance while remaining incredibly silent. Enjoy uninterrupted gaming, streaming or any other media thanks to brilliant MSI design!.

Complete Control over Your ARMOR GPU

MSI Afterburner is the world’s most recognized and widely used graphics card overclocking utility, granting you you full control of your graphics cards. It also provides an incredibly detailed overview of your hardware and comes with some additional features such as customizing fan profiles, benchmarking and video recording - save and show-off those epic gaming moments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FAST! But dear, even with the recent price cuts. The good: It's fast; as you'd expect, eats everything at 2K rez, maxed out so no surprises there. Cool; so far it's not exceeded 72C in gaming loads, running a 144Hz 2K screen. Quiet; was a little bothered about noise, but the stock device is all but silent, a far cry from many earlier cards I've had. Solid; Feels nice and chunky in the hand with no flex or rattles, the fan shroud is also nice and stiff, it feels like a quality part. The bad: No backplate and no LED options, making it a little plain. MSI attach a 'O' shaped sticker over one of the fans, you MUST remove it during the install, something that isn't clearly mentioned on the offending sticker, failing to do so won't hurt the card but it does cause some odd fan behaviours. It's big, not so much thick as wide (distance from PCI-E slot to edge of card) and MSI put the power connectors on the outside edge, effectively making the card wider still, not a problem with my big Phanteks case, but some may find it just won't fit. The ugly: Still expensive, hence the 3 star value but then again this type of hardware isn't about value, it's about sheer performance and this card has that in spades.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blaise Pascal knew what he was doing I have never been happier with a GPU before (Until the next card Nvidia brings in few months time like they always do) this card can easily do very high settings in 4k with buttery smooth 60 FPS no question. The GPU boost 3.0 is amazing, it auto overclocks my card to 1964mhz and does all the power work on its own. I love the design and the black and white colour matches my corsair graphite 380t case. The only downside is the heatsink and fan are like the standard intel heatsink of the GPU, it does well but even with the fans at 100% (Which is kinda quiet surprisingly) it throttles hard when it reaches around 60-65 degrees playing GTA 5 and sometimes drop 5 FPS assuming you have the advanced graphics settings on, it's best to stick to graphics settings on high settings only, I might have to use an arctic accelero hybrid 3 GPU cooler to keep it stable from high temps or maybe a desk fan. Overall I say I am very happy but sadly it doesn't tick all boxes and you may have to invest more money into it, even with the corsair GPU panel taken off, the GPU has all the breathing space it needs, it does get high temps. apart from that, it is great value GPU. 8 out of 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a beast Its an absolute monster in performance. Can't give it enough praise, no issues found so far. Only downside I have to say is it has some weight on it, and attached to a Z170 motherboard I can see it could be likely to "sag" on the board over time. might need something to support it? Its really quiet with the fans and I didn't have any issues installing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pascal has arrived Stunning video card. I upgraded from a 970. Its quiet, runs cool, runs everything in 4k. Makes oculus even more fun. It is a very expensive purchase but worth it if you have 4k or VR.
