Rated 5 out of 5 by Trouble Free Experience Had the free upgrade from Win7 to Win10. Had a full backup of C drive. Installed an excellent cpu/mobo bundle from Scan. Restored the backup to find Win10 needed activation, and no serial No. exhisted. A full retail copy of Win10 was my answer, and this Win10 package from Scan, neatly packed in a pen drive, installed flawlessly, and gave me a fresh start. Absolutely to be recommended. 13 May 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by tidy stable and easy to use. USB media useless for m.2 card 24 April 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by windows 10 usb This was returned as it did not work on my Uefi bios pc, Scan have said there is nothing wrong with the usb stick, and returned it. However it still does not load on my pc. 22 March 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Its another Windows 100% improvement on windows 8/8.1, after using 8.1 for a while it's a nice change to not get frustrated with my OS. The pendrive saved me forking out for a CD drive which i'll probably only use for installing windows 10. 04 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best OS since Windows 7 We skipped Windows 8 & 8.1 on all our PCs Bare metal install of Windows 10 64bit from Microsoft USB media to a Samsung SM950 Pro M.2 PCIe NVMe on an Asus Z170i was quick and seamless. We are happy with Microsoft's latest OS. 24 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Virtually bug free OS The most painless OS switch I can remember. Have it on 2 PC's an Xbox one and Lumia 950 XL works trouble free on all. Alot of stuff is done in the background that you don't need to be involved with but there's plenty to mess with for us tinkerer's. And of course things will only get better as dx12 starts to become the norm. Regular updates keep things ticking along nicely and have caused zero issues for me personally so far. 20 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It does the Job According to the attached instructions you can reinstall from this USB OS. I had always used discs prior to this USB pen drive install but now have had a change of heart. The install was flawless and fast and the knowledge that I can reinstall gives peace of mind. I had intended to alter boot up preference in bios, but edge beat me to it. This was without doubt the smoothest install of OS I have ever Performed. Considering the usual excellent service provided by Scan, what more could you ask for. Thank you. 20 December 2015

Answer:
The Windows 10 USB stick is simply a USB version, similar to previous DVD releases. Simply stick the drive in a USB slot and providing you set your BIOS correctly, the Windows install routine will commence in exactly the same way as if you had booted from a DVD.

Choosing your target drive for installation is more down to the latest version of your mainboard's BIOS though. HDDs and SSDs will be recognised by Windows, BUT you need to have the latest version of your BIOS installed to ensure the new M.2 NVMe SSDs, if you have one of these, are recognised.

Retail or OEM license

Hi there, The other Windows 10 products state OEM license. This states retail packaging. Does this mean this is a full retail license and so the Windows software can be moved from computer to computer (as long as it is only ever on one PC at a time)? As opposed to the other Windows 10 OEM that have to stay on the PC you first install it on? Thanks.

Answer:
I've recently installed several copies of the Windows 10 full retail version (64-bit USB). I went with the Retail version specifically because I know the OEM version can be more picky about if you try to move machine, and even if you make major chances to your own hardware all at once. Basically I went with the Retail version simply for the peace of mind, and to be honest I simply couldn't do with the hassle I've sometimes had when using OEM versions in the past.

Answer:
Installation of Windows 10 from a USB stick to an M.2 NVMe drive, such as the Samsung 950 PRO, will work quite easily.

BUT, it's not down to Windows, you MUST update the BIOS on your mainboard to ensure the NVMe drive is recognised. If the BIOS doesn't recognise it correctly, then Windows has no chance of seeing it correctly either.

I've installed Windows 10 (64-bit retail USB) to a Samsung 950 PRO on an Asus Z170 Deluxe mainboard and the whole process was VERY swift once the BIOS was updated.

Answer:
Hello,

You will have two set up files to choose from.

The retail one allows you to install on any PC however the OEM allows you to install on one PC but it is bound to the hardware in the PC.

Thanks,

Answer:
Yes you get a choice, select 64bit if your hardware is supported.
'OEM' operating systems 'die' with the hardware that they were purchased for, whereas 'Retail' can be transferred (not copied) to different hardware and is supported by Microsoft.
