Mevo Plus: 4K Livestream Dream
Tiny. Remarkable. The Mevo camera is a portable, small form factor camera that houses a powerful 4K camera and streams out to multiple platforms, including Facebook, Periscope and custom RTMP servers.
Mevo Plus is the second iteration on the Mevo range, increasing the range it can operate by five times, bringing better connectivity through its new 2x2 MIMO antennas, along with Bluetooth 4.1 and an advanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi chip.
Mevo is controlled entirely through the companion app (available on iOS and Android), with connectivity available to PC and macOS via Livestream Studio (sold separately).
More than Meets the Eye
4K RecordingWith the 4K camera built in, you can record directly to the micro SD card, bringing crisp backups of your livestream. While filming in 4K, the cropping function is turned off, but all the other settings available in the menus (brightness, colour etc.) are still available to be changed.
1080p Streaming Although it comes equipped with a 4K camera, the Mevo streams out in 1080p. This gives you the best compatibility with the range of live streaming services you can connect to and enables one of the best features that the Mevo camera has in its repertoire.
In More than One PlaceThe Mevo Plus' reduction down to a 1080p for livestreaming leaves the 4K sensor to do a lot of heavy lifting, when combined with the app, gives the illusion there's more than one camera doing the work. This is thanks in part to the 150-degree wide lens, giving a nice wide angle base that can then be zoomed in on and the app can then be told to use a certain point as a focus for you to cut away to if you want.
You can also slide your finger along, dragging the focus rectangle on the screen, the camera will begin to pan across or with a pinch, the camera will zoom in and out. With the Camera Assistant Mode turned on and the Mevo pointed towards a plainer, basic setup (an interview situation or lecture), you can allow the app to take the wheel and choose when to cut away or follow an individual.
Audio, Your Way
However you want it Along the base of the camera lies dual analog MEMs microphones, perfect for quick set ups. However, it gets cooler: via the connected phone, you can utilise it as a microphone or connect in via USB-C or Micro USB (Android, iPad Pro 2018), 3.5mm jack or Lightning (iOS) to a larger, more high-class microphone, deck and more for even higher quality sound that you’ll have direct control over via the app and your hardware.
Mevo Boost
Get a Boost The Mevo Boost gives you access to an Ethernet port and USB-A port, allowing you to plug in a microphone in that way. On the bottom of both the Boost and included with the Mevo itself is a standard tripod adapter, so you can begin attaching the device to any tripod you fancy or the Mevo Stand for the true remoteness the camera presents. The Boost also gives the Mevo Plus an extra 10 hours of battery life to feed from.
Vimeo Subscriptions
Producer, Premium and EnterpriseWithin the Mevo app, you’ll be prompted to subscribe to a premium version, which is entirely optional. However, doing so will give you full access to the additional features within the app, including lower-third cards, overlaying images and the ability to stream to multiple locations at once.
Stream to Multiple Places
Wherever you WantVimeo and Livestream have developed a platform that includes access to almost everything you could possibly want to stream to. Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitter/Periscope. This astounding range of choice means you’re not limited to where you want to build your audience and can even start incorporating the Mevo Plus into your usual workflow while streaming, even utilising the RTMP function to get around the limitation of Facebook Live restricting access to streams that are simultaneously streaming to other locations. This also gives you access to Twitch or other sites like Weibo.
