Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but needs a tall case. This HAT does what it claims, looks well-made and works well. It requires the usual USB loop-back (PIs *really* need a USB header) but aside from that it provides a neat-looking solution. The offsets are quite tall, however, and are impractical to cut down so the HAT won't fit into most cases. I eventually got it to fit by mounting it into the case upside down. Even then I had to use an (Anidees Unibody) "extra tall" case to get the necessary headroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Add an SSD to your Pi If you want to add an SSD to a Raspberry Pi (and maybe boot from it, instead of an SD card) this product works well. Easy to assemble and good quality build. Working well with 250GB Samsung 860 EVO, mSATA SSD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and easy way to connect SSD to Raspberry Pi I had three HATS already to attach SSD to a Raspberry Pi from a KickStarter a few years ago. However I needed a fourth one, and this one does what it says on the tin. Only minor problem is that it is taller than a normal HAT, but this is a small problem in my setup. The photo shows my TetraPi of four Raspberry Pi Model 3B working as a mini-super computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just works! This thing just does what it's supposed to. It allows you to connect an mSATA drive to your Raspberry Pi over USB. Works with other USB enabled devices, too. Only suggestion I would make is that a shorter up-angled USB to micro USB cable or connector be supplied instead of having to use a standard cable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, near plug and play This board seems to be well put together and installation was very easy. My 2A RPi power supply was enough to power this with a drive connected so no need for an additional power supply just for the SSD. Would have been nice if it shipped with a short USB cable as I had to order one separately. Also the provided spacers hold the board quite far from the RPi, though I suspect this is to allow access to the GPIO pins as it has no pass-through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Msata This was the only method that worked for me attaching msata, after many fails, because of not enough power, (Pi blacking Out) Raspberry Pi 2 has a finite load, 2 amp, once you pass that /?/.<, with this board I was able to use an alternative power source to the Msata, ease........................... -_-

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for multiboot with Berryboot. Well worth the money even though you will have to supply your own USB cable. Would have been 5 stars if it came with a custom USB cable. I mounted mine under the Pi inside a FLIRC case with a custom 3D printed base.

does this use the header pins or a usb socket?

I think you can use either but I got it to work only with the USB socket. The header delivered power but not data, although that might have been down to my poor soldering.
