Reviews
Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Beware - Unusable for System Drives The card does not have its own BIOS*, so you cannot use it for any disk drive that contains an operating system. (Tested with Windows 7 and OpenSUSE.) This means that you can use the card only for additional data or backup drives. Note (*): Explanation - since there's no BIOS for the card, the computer's BIOS doesn't see any of the attached drives. This means that Windows and Linux will only see it after they have fully started. 15 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hardware RAID card Very fast RAID card (hardware based). Achieving speeds of 100MB/s of HDDs connected. Highly recommend this card. 07 March 2016

Rated 2 out of 5 by Keeps locking up I bought 2 of these for a Home Server, seemed to work fine for a day or 2 then hard drives started freezing and disappearing from my computer. I removed one of the cards to see if i was overloading things but still had problems. I replaced the one card with an old sata2 card i had and no more freezing. 17 November 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by fast ?? . ...with 2, or 3 ssds max speed 700megs...expected a bit more :-( ..my ssd is on its own around 510-520, so this is step forward, with hand brake on :_))) 12 July 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by whs 2011 setup After purchasing a bioster 1150 mini itx for my whs2011 nas only to find out it was not capable of hotsawp and several emails to biostar proved useless this came to the rescue! I have 4 hard drives connected to this unit and speed is marginally faster than onboard! And Hot swap capable! 17 March 2014

Answer:
As long as you've a spare PC Express 2 slot it'll be fine, as for cabling just standard sata cables. The one thing i will say is the reliability of this card is very poor but may just be a quirk of my system.

1) Does this pass through drives in non RAID - I just want a dumb SATA controller...

2) Support 3-8Tb drives? What is the biggest confirmed?

3) Multiple cards work together? I'll need 2 to co-operate and some controllers don't allow that!
