Do More with your CPUs Fastest Core

This great technology is a combination of software and hardware that delivers more than 15% better single-threaded performance. The single-thread performacne is optimized by identifying your processor’s fastest core and directing your most critical workloads to it. Turbo Boost Tech 3.0 doesn’t replace version 2.0 but instead enhances it. It grants a massive frequency boost on your fastest core for even more flexability to get the best from your processor.

Three New Overclocking Features

These new Broadwell-E chips from Intel support overclocking and are fully unlocked. There have been 3 new features added to the CPU overclocking; per core overclocking, AVX ratio offset and VccU voltage control. Possibly the most eagerly awaited aspect by overclockers is the per core overclocking. This genius technology allows you to set independent clock speeds on a single chip, so you can set individual frequencies per core.

Intel® AES

Intel Core i7 6850K, S 2011-3, Broadwell-E, 6 Core, 12 Thread, 3.6GHz Clock, 4GHz Turbo, 15MB, 40 Lane, 140W, Retail is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought for 40 lane capability The ASUS X99 platform seems to have horrific issues with USB. I ran a 6800k setup using a ROG STRIX board with dual 1080 GTX cards and an m.2 setup for system drive. When USB issues repeatedly hit me (ports just completely disabled, xHCI handoff completely broken) it rendered the entire platform crippled. Scan weren't really interested in acknowledging a very widely published and vendor admitted problem so I took matters into my own hands. After adding a USB add-in card and upgrading the CPU to support more lanes, I'm finally able to use 2 USB ports (on the entire system) after the problem hits so my £2500 system I bought from them is at least, usable. So if you are in the same boat and require the 40 PCI-e lanes this CPU offers, it's definitely worth a punt after the recent price drop. Performs well and alleviates issues that can be felt with a multi GPU + m.2 setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but worth it. Intel is known for making their stuff high priced. I get that, but this stuff is intended for high end workstation use and you will not really get anything better performing than these. I think the 6850k is a bit much of a price jump from 6800k considering what it really is in difference. I am a 3D artist and this thing works like a charm, multithreading gives it a 12 core working ability with its physical 6core form. Read into it. Renders fast and smooth, real time rendering with cpu us certqinly advantageous in certain scenarios. It also has a real sense of reliability, stability and really takes away stress. That said coming from a i5 2500k build. Only negative I cansay is that it doesnt come with a cooler. So you will have to really dig out the pit of your pockets for a decent cooler

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 6 Hard Cores I bought this as part as a bundle overclocked to 4.5Ghz (reads at 4.6 though). I upgraded from a 950 i7 3.6ghz and I instantly noticed a difference when handling lots of apps and playing games. This thing doesn't hang about. I highly recommend the i100 water cooler as this keeps it on ice even under heavy load. Great product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cpu This was my max budget. Looking at the specs it seemed better for SLI gaming which is why i got it. Overclocked it to 19% currently with no issues. Max overclock has been 25%.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great processor at a price I ostensibly wanted to do some multiphysics simulation work as well as play games, but in reality I simply *wanted* hexacore and the oodles of good stuff it and X99 would bring. I picked this particular one over the 6800k because I considered the additional PCie lanes, slightly easier overclocking and other featuers worth the increased cost, based on several reviews. I am not using the all additional features - currently running only a single GPU - but the paths for upgrade are open, which is nice to have. My particular chip reaches 4.3 GHz at 1.3V, but I am running stock for the moment, mostly for heat issues (it is currently summer and my room gets too warm). Otherwise the processor seems very efficient at stock speeds. It certainly runs cooler than my previous IVB 3770k. The 280mm AIO cooler I use keeps the core temperatures around 25°C idle and than 35°C under load, with the latter reaching 60°C whilst overclocked. For gaming, it performs well. Perhaps it does not excel like a heavily-overclocked 6700k, but the extra cores may make streaming easier. Certainly if mainstream games are the main priority, then a 6700k, or even 6600k overclocked would be far better value. I have not yet tried the tasks which I ostensibly had in mind when I purchased this, but I have every reason to believe it would excel. Overall, you pay a hefty premium for an extra 2 cores, 4 threads, a bit of cache, more PCIe lanes and a whole load of bragging rights. For me, they are completely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Little Beast! This processor is not good value for money, but I still love it. What you get for your £500 ish is a little beast that will eat up anything you throw at it in gaming or content creation. Even with many things open, fallout 4, chrome with 7 tabs, itunes, outlook etc, I have NEVER had to wait for it. My one will also overclock to 4.2Ghz at 1.3V, which is the most I want to give it as I want max. load temperature to be 70-73 deg. It will do more with more voltage. On the other hand, it has its problems. The memory controller and the X99 platform generally can be a bit jittery when testing overclocking settings, or just in general. Also for what I use it for, the Skylake 6700K will do it just as well at less cost. Highly recommended if seeing task manager with 12 CPU threads will put a big smile on your face! Also consider if you actually need 40 PCI-E lanes for multiple graphics cards and storage drives. If you answered "no", then you will probably be disappointed that you didn't by a skylake 6700K.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intel CPU 6 core, does the job effortlessly Great Cpu as always by intel, processes everything I can ask it to do. I water-cooled the system so it runs at very low temperature(about 30) no matter what I'm doing. mostly high end gaming, the only thing to watch out for is the motherboard, The only one I could find that supports this chip without a bios update is the ROG rampage 10 edition V,. As it's a new CPU and a specific chip, getting a bios update on an older board may not be as easy. hope this helps

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent CPU Overclocks nicely, but you do need a good water cooling solution if you push it too high. In normal operation and without overclocking this CPU uses very little power and produces very little heat.
