The IB-273StU3 takes a 2.5" SATA hard drive of any size and provides the data conveniently to computers, media players, mobile phones or smart TVs. The requirement is a USB connection, where the modern and very fast version 3.0 is supported, providing lightning fast data transfer. Except plastic, the enclosure is made of aluminum which dissipates the heat effectively.

Disappointing construction, good performance.
This external disk cassette has a strong metal bottom enclosure, but the main structure is rather flimsy black plastic, easily scratched.
Fitting a disk is easy - helped by the included screwdriver.
The large circular activity LED flashes brightly and soon becomes annoying.
The supplied USB cable is of indifferent quality, and my example is unreliable, losing contact unpredictably.
That said, with a better cable the cassette works well, giving good performance from the enclosed 500GB SSD.
But I expected better from Icy Dock

Perfect
Used to switch out an internal hdd to an external one to use for storage so it serves its purpose and is easily explained how to assemble the case :)

Unreliable, and not accurately made.
This product appeared to be working at first, but then would disconnect at random when transferring large files, or stay connected but just get stuck doing nothing at 0 kb/s!
Also, the pictures may be pretty, but on closer inspection, the casing was not well aligned, and just looked generally lackadaisical in construction.

Good Enclosure
Got this product for a laptop Hdd that was replaced by a SSD, worked as soon as the drive was put in, and as quick as USB 3 is expected to be.

Fast and flawless
Needed to transfer data from my old laptop drive after it died. It looks great and is superfast connected to a USB 3.0 host. Having bought it as a cheap disposable option, it is now my #1 go-to external hdd.

Laptop drive life saver
This enclosure is so useful, letting you create a bootable C: disc that can then be installed in the Icy Box and used as a data disc. Should the boot drive fail you have a replacement bootable drive ready and waiting. Ideal to make good use for an upgraded drive, cheap insurance and peace of mind. Well made, good quality data cable was included.

Good quality 2.5" SATA HDD enclosure
You can get a very cheap 2.5" SATA HDD enclosure for under £5. These enclosure are bad quality, you may see the PCB quite dirty, screw may be the wrong size or missing. It's sometimes not detected by your computer. That's what you pay for. But with Icy Box, you will get a good quality enclosure. Even they're more expensive than others. But its quality is worth the money. The colour is black with blue LED light. It's always detected by your computer. The transfer rate is good. And it fit most 2.5" SATA hard disk (9.5mm).

nice external case
Seems to be a well made enclosure and good value for USB 3. It does look a little bit like it's trying to be an iPhone when it's off. the blue ring lights when in use which makes it less iPhone like. The supplied protective case is good for preventing any scratches but is a bit cheap looking - you get what you pay for.
