High End Dongle Amplifier with Dual ES9069 DACs
FiiO - KA17
(Black)
Dual ES9069 high-end DACThe FiiO KA17 DAC features a special desktop mode that is activated when using the dedicated D.Mode switch. Engage the desktop mode, and the KA17 will automatically adjust the DAC, amplifier power supply, and amplifier power output to their full potential with enhanced power output.
An innovative Desktop Mode is included, and features an external dedicated Type-C power port. With enough USB power, or when the independent power port is connected to a power adapter, the Desktop Mode will be enabled, and will automatically adjust the DAC, amp power, and headphone amplifier to a high-performance state, enabling the full potential and output power to come through.
The KA17 is FIIO flagship mode, and the first USB dongle to incorporate the THX headphone amp circuit. It employs a brand-new THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifier architecture with a configuration of 4 channels fully balanced and 8 channels parallel-connected op-amps, greatly increasing the output power. Similar to a desktop amplifier, Desktop Mode allows the KA17’s balanced output power to reach up to 650mW + 650mW, offering greater dynamics, improved control, and full sound reproduction.

Audiophile-Grade Design
Dual flagship ES9069Q DACsWith USB power supply input and desktop mode enabled, the four THX headphone amps work together in parallel for more current and overall power output, resulting in up to 270mW+270mW power output for single-ended out, and up to 650mW+650mW power output for balanced out. The KA17 uses two of the new ESS ES9069Q flagship DACs, powered by fourth-gen 32-bit HyperStream technology. Featuring even higher performance, lower power consumption, and less digital noise than previous generations, these chips offer completely pristine and pure audio background.
adjustable PEQThe XMOS XU316 chip allowed the engineers at FiiO to create a highly accurate adjustable PEQ (supported in formats up to PCM 192kHz/24bit, currently not supported in UAC1.0 mode), with 10 customizable frequency bands. FiiO’s self-developed PEQ algorithm and interface enable fine-tuning of the frequency, gain, and bandwidth of each PEQ band, so you can dial in the sound precisely how you want it.
16-Core XMOS XU316The 16-core XMOS XU316 are rarely found in audio dongles. This chip offers lower latency, more stable signal transmission, and better compatibility than a standard USB control chip. When used with dual crystal oscillators, the KA17 is more than capable of handling multiple digital audio sources with different sampling rates.
THX AAA 78+ Headphone AmpThe THX AAA 78 headphone amp lived up to the mid-to-high-end M11 Pro and M11 Plus players, more so now with the upgraded THX AA 78+ features in the KA17. THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifiers come built-in to the KA17, with 8 op-amps working in together in a 4-channel fully balanced configuration, allowing for greater power output along with more detailed and realistic sound.
Dynamically richThe audio circuit designs of mid to high-end digital audio players were cleverly adapted for the KA17. High-precision handling of digital audio signals is made possible using the dual crystal oscillator clocks and high-performance DAC converted to analogue signals output by an analogue section using LPF voltage amplification, BUF current expansion and headphone amps work together simultaneously. The KA17 can certainly reproduce all the detail and dynamics in your music, whilst working as a serious digital audio player.
No interferanceThe digital and analogue elements of the audio circuit use totally separate circuit boards inside the KA17, each board features a shielding cover for total isolation. This means that the digital and analogue portions of the audio circuit don't interfere with each other, allowing for accurate processing of audio signals.
power supply designThe KA17 features a 3-stage 3-main rails power supply design, consisting of first-stage filtering and overvoltage protection, second-stage DC-DC boost conversion, and third-stage LDO voltage stabilization. This filtering of electricity applies to each of the three main power supply rails, one each for the digital, digital-to-analogue conversion, and analogue signal parts of the audio circuit. The power supply circuit is also divided into ten smaller rails, and features many of the same principles as desktop headphone amplifiers, adding to the KA17’s pristine sound.
Intuitive DisplayA 0.91-inch dot matrix display shows users each of the different functions. The physical buttons make it easy to customize different settings including screen orientation, filters and display sleep timer.
Type-C power supplyThe KA17 features two USB Type-C ports, the standard port is used to connect to other devices such as phones, tablets and computers. The orange port on the side is designed for use with an external power supply. When an external power supply is connected to this port, the KA17 can provides a higher power output and better performance without using any battery from your phone or other connected devices.
Multiple protection systemstTmperature and DC output monitoring systems come built-in to the KA17, ensuring both the unit itself and connected headphones remain safe under difficult conditions. You can also set a maximum volume level to prevent accidental hearing damage to your ears from overly loud audio.
