With 120W + 120W into 4Ω from its supplied 48V/5A power supply, it's capable of driving a wide range of passive bookshelf and floorstanding speakers while leaving plenty of room for different system configurations. Digital duties are handled by an XMOS XU316 USB interface and ESS ES9020Q DAC, with USB decoding supporting up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and native DSD512. Optical and coaxial inputs are also included, while analogue line input gives you an easy route for traditional sources.

The AIR AMP is just as comfortable working as a network player. Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi provide wired and wireless network connectivity, with support for streaming platforms and network playback, including music stored on a NAS. There's also a USB-A port for local playback from compatible flash drives and portable hard drives. FiiO has given the amplifier stage PFFB real-time feedback technology, designed to reduce the influence of the output filter and connected speaker load on amplifier performance. The AIR AMP also uses a TI TPA3255 Class-D amplifier and can deliver substantially more power with an optional higher-current 48V/10A supply, reaching up to 235W + 235W into 4Ω under specified conditions.

There's plenty of flexibility at the back, too. Alongside speaker outputs, the AIR AMP provides dedicated subwoofer and preamp outputs, making it easy to build a compact 2.1 system or integrate it into a larger setup. The 10-band parametric EQ can be adjusted through FiiO Control or the web interface, giving you useful control over the final system response rather than forcing you to accept a fixed tuning.

With seven input options, three output types, network streaming, high-resolution USB decoding and serious speaker power, the FiiO AIR AMP is a remarkably complete solution for a desktop, living-room or compact hi-fi system — particularly if you want one box to handle the majority of your digital audio setup.
