Innovative and iconicWhen Eddie Van Halen introduced his famous red, white and black striped 5150™ guitar in 1984, he had no idea that it would inspire thousands of copies. Although, Eddie has made a career of being copied in every way possible. EVH proudly introduces a new Striped Series 5150 model based on his original instrument, featuring his distinctively striped 5150 motif and single humbucker configuration.
The Striped Series 5150 is made of a basswood body just like the original, with a bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with a comfortable modified “C” profile, hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back and iconic “hockey stick” headstock. The fast-playing 12"-16" compound radius maple fingerboard has 22 jumbo frets, black dot inlays and a convenient heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel.
The 5150 is also fitted with a custom-designed EVH® Wolfgang® alnico 2 humbucking bridge pickup, providing the ideal amount of power and articulation with great sustain and thick chunky rhythms in a perfectly shaped EQ curve. A custom designed EVH-branded low-friction volume knob delivers unmatched performance and even-volume tapering for the smoothest volume swells.
Complete with a rock solid “dive bomb” certified EVH-branded Floyd Rose® bridge, the locking tailpiece features fine tuners for each string and a patented EVH D-Tuna® for going from drop-D to standard tuning in an instant. With its quintessential red 5150 hologram numbers and star decals, the Striped Series 5150 is a high-powered, high-performance machine that looks as good as it plays.

Modified "C" Neck Backshape
bright tone with more controlA bolt-on neck construction joins the maple neck to the body of the guitar using screws or bolts, resulting in bright tone with more control. The quartersawn grain runs the length of the neck and along with being visually appealing, is less susceptible to shrinking, warping or splitting.
Graphite-reinforcement rods flank the truss rod for even more additional neck stability, while your fretting hand will feel right at home on the modified “C”-shape neck, which has a .790” thickness at the 3rd fret and .825” at the 12th fret.
12"-16" Compound Radius Fingerboard
22 Jumbo FretsThe 12"-16" Compound Radius Maple Fingerboard design gradually flattens toward the heel from its smaller and more rounded profile at the nut for improved comfort when chording and riffing near the nut with seamless bending near the heel.
Maple is a dense wood that produces bright, snappy tones, articulate notes with bite and a tight low end. Versus a 24-fret neck, a 22-fret layout shifts the neck pickup farther away from the bridge, centering it at the “sweet spot” and resulting in a warmer overall tone. The jumbo fret wire slightly increases the distance between string and fingerboard for seamless and comfortable bends.
Direct Mount EVH Wolfgang Pickup
Legendary ToneNot all humbuckers are made the same, the direct mount EVH Wolfgang humbucker with Alnico 2 magnets is hotter and assists Eddie’s scorching signature lead tone that captivated the world of rock ‘n’ roll in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
This humbucking bridge pickup delivers plenty of rich harmonics, cutting highs and snarling mids.

R3 LOCKING NUT & EVH D-TUNAEddie Van Halen was the first player to popularize the innovative Floyd Rose locking tremolo, even advising Floyd Rose on his early designs to integrate round disc finger-type tuners found on a cello or violin. Now universally knwon, the EVH-branded Floyd Rose bridge features our EVH logo stamped on the bridge plate, steel saddles and a solid brass block.
The Floyd Rose bridge and R3 (43 mm) locking nut is a professional-grade double-locking design that secures the strings in the saddle and nut, providing great tuning stability and dynamic tremolo action. Standard equipment on Eddie’s personal guitars since the early ‘90s, the EVH D-Tuna is a unique patented device that allows players to drop the E to D and back instantly.
