Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed with the build quality I upgraded a friend's laptop with an ssd and so to still utilise his aged sata drive as a backup device, I order this enclosure (I had a budget to work to!) Whilst the enclosure does everything else t says on the tin, the build is terrible and whatever drive is put in rattles around inside the enclosure. Perhaps a bit of padding wouldn't go amiss?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Depends what you need it for. If all you need is a basic caddy that can be connected to a pc then this should be fine. This caddy uses usb a to a instead of mini-usb, this means it's not useful for everything as you can't use a y cable and it has no dc power input option. So if you want to use this with a device that doesn't output much power through the usb port then it won't be much use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok for the price The cheapness of this USB enclosure unfortunately does show. The disk is able to wobble a bit inside the enclosure (only secured at the USB port side) and the attachment of the USB end to the aluminium sleeve is also a bit unconvincing and wiggly. Also the enclosure really needed some rubber feet for holding it steady, the bottom is just smooth metal. I improvised with some rubber bands around it to stop it going flying if knocked. On the plus side it works, and SMART pass-through also works fine in Linux with the "sat" device type.

Why is their three USB connectors?

Ok so I've just bought Dynamode Enclosure thinking it was for use internally with new SanDisk SSD to learn not so. So what I'd like to know is why is their three USB connector's, obviously 1 goes into the enclosure am I meant to plug both the other two into my Pc port's? As no information included and doesn't say on box. Maybe its a return and someone has put wrong cable in. Thanks in advance for your replies if any.

Most 2.5" hard drives need 5V and 0.7A (700mA) or more current in order to function properly. A standard USB2.0 port only supplies 500mA of current. So the Y-Cable as it's called allows a 2nd USB port on the machine to provide the extra current the HD needs. So the way to plug it in is use the two USB connectors on the cable to plug into two spare USB ports on your machine and then plug the single USB plug on the cable into the external HD and away you go.
