Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Distributed Wifi Another excellent Wireless AC router from D-Link. These routers can be an ideal solution for large houses or small business premises where they can be used to give excellent coverage as well as taking the wifi polling load off the primary router. For instance, have achieved superb broadband coverage in large houses by connecting 2 or 3 of these (on different channels) by cables to a BT Hub5 with its own wifi switched off. The DIR-880L is particularly flexible as it can be wall or desk mounted.

I was using a similar TP-Link product to control stage lighting and sound mixing on an iPad over wi-fi, but had issues with the mixer app freezing quite often and the performance of the lighting app deteriorating over the course of a show in a very strange way until the system needed resetting. The TP-Link has an internal aerial. This D-Link DIR-880L immediately gave me greater range before the mixer app froze, and the lighting app behaves itself over a three hour show. Yes - the root of the problems are caused by flaky (but free) apps, but I think it demonstrates how much better the signal quality is from the D-Link.
