Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good budget sound card I needed to tweak my computer audio because I struggle with certain pitches of sound. My internal (Motherboard) sound card wasn't effective any more. The advantages of the SB is that it comes with graphic equalizer software so you can tweak the frequencies to suit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A dissapointing purchase The card came with a broken cd as it was not packed adequatly which Scan offered to replace straight away. I declined and downloaded drivers fom Creative. I was hoping for some audio controls that would include a sound mixer as Ive damaged hearing at the higher frequencies. There were none so I removed the card,it will go on ebay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sorted out some interference problems I was experiencing some audio interference with my motherboard's onboard sound connectors. After a lot of tinkering with drivers I decided to test out an expansion card. The majority of the interference is gone and the sound is notably improved. Seems like very good build quality versus cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well. Bought this to solve a problem with a HP tower PC, where music playback pauses for several seconds on a random basis; unfortunately the problem persists. Lots of further research seems to show that the problem actually lies with Windows 10 and is fairly well documented on the Web, although not as well as would offer me a lasting solution! Problem does not occur in Wndows 7, and the soundcard itself is excellent, at a great price; so if I have any complaint it's with Microsoft (certainly not with Scan).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't fault it at twice the price. For a sliver over £20, this is a fantastic bit of kit. First time installing a sound card and hooking up surround sound through a PC. It was easy, the sound quality only seems to be limited by the quality of the attached speakers, and it even continues to work perfectly despite sitting directly below a beefy graphics card with a big heat output for the past year (slightly cramped case). Comes with the option of registering the product with the manufacturer, and a tidy piece of software for tweaking sound which has some very nice presets. If you're on the fence about upgrading to 5.1, this will make it an absolute breeze.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra sound card Needed this as already had 5.1 Sound, and wanted to add 5.1 headset for “quiet” gaming. Card went straight in, downloaded software from Creative, and had it up and running in about 15mins. No problems...works a treat !!!!!

Will this work with Windows XP ?

I have put Windows XP onto a HP dc7900 desktop computer which previously ran Windows 7 and used the onboard sound. I want to run my old XP software on this machine.

I would think so; certainly works with W7. I have an older Creative rig in a DC7900 and it works perfectly.
