The build quality is really good too. But they are let down by a big problem. Apparently because of some EU ruling, Creative have changed their speakers such that they automatically go into standby mode after 10 minutes without any sound detected. You can not disable or switch off this 'functionality'. Absolutely barmy! Nowhere does it tell you this here at scan.co.uk, neither does it tell you on the manufacturer packaging for the speakers. For me this has completely ruined what would otherwise be a very good product. Buyer beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DWainwright from One of the best budget 2.0 desktop speaker systems I went in search of a 2.1 system as I was looking to use my desktop speakers to mainly play music, namely dance music. So a sub seemed fairly essential, however I did have some reservations on where I'd place a sub. On the floor is never ideal, and I didn't want a large sub taking up room on my desk. when I came across these, I read a number of reviews on different sites and decided to take the plunge and make a purchase. I was not disappointed! These things pack a punch and are ideal to cater for someone in my position. Obviously, nothing will ever compensate for the kick you get from an actual sub, but these really are a close second. and they look the part on my desktop! much better than any tiny satellite speakers you get from a 2.1 system. so, if like me, you are looking for base driven speakers but don't want a bulky sub taking up room, then these are the speakers for you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by aich69 from Could be better...maybe After 12 or so years my Creative I-Treague 3400s packed up so I looked for something to replace them. Now I don't know if it's because I have gone from 2.1 to a 2 set up but there's something lacking for me with these...that said they are a nice pair of speakers for the money. Running them from an ASUS Maximus VIII Hero motherboard. Pros Well made cabinets with screw-in bases. Easily accessible On/Off/Volume, Bass and Treble controls. Front headphone and Aux in sockets. Nice blue halo light on the On/Off/Volume, not too bright. Compact power supply. Cons There's no clarity in the sound unless you fiddle around with the Equalizer in iTunes and even then, it's still not great. Bass is present but compromised. Sound in general is just not on a par with the 3400s I had but that's a matter of personal opinion I suppose. Cable between speakers is a little short but fine for my use as my desk isn't that wide. Unfortunately there's nothing out there, I don't think, that would give me the 3400 sound without spending at least another £70+ but I just couldn't run to that at the moment. Suffice to say, when I can, I'll be replacing these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by tp9uk from Solid sound for the price Good sound at a good price. Well built and plenty of range and punch for the money. Treble and bass adjustments work well to get sound to personal taste. Unless you want a sub-woofer or to spend double the money these are as good as it gets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gismo32 from Fantasic I'd had a pair of T20s for ages and I've liked them a lot. I thought the T40 as the bigger brother of the T20s would give me a better performance across the board. I was not prepared for the difference between the two. Low deep rumbling bass when needed and well pitched top end. I'm a gamer, I listen to rock music and I even watch TV through my pc. The T40 speakers handle everything with aplomb - best investment I have made in while.
