Built around advanced infrared structured light technology and a state-of-the-art stereo-matching algorithm, the CR-Scan Otter captures authentic textures and contours with accuracy of up to 0.02mm at 60mm. A 3D resolution range of 0.05–2mm ensures sharp detail reproduction, while the 110–1000mm working distance and maximum single capture range of 1350 × 840mm at 1000mm allow the scanner to tackle everything from small collectibles to full-size vehicles.

Fast, Stable Handheld Performance

One-Shot 3D imaging technology helps minimise tracking loss during handheld scanning, providing naturally stabilised operation and smoother results. Combined with fast backtracking and scanning speeds of up to 20fps, the CR-Scan Otter delivers efficient data capture for both detailed and large-volume scanning projects.

Scan Challenging Surfaces Without Preparation

The CR-Scan Otter can accurately scan black and metallic objects without the need for scanning spray. This capability makes it suitable for capturing vehicles, automotive components, tyres, and other surfaces that traditionally present difficulties for 3D scanners.

Dedicated Face and Body Scanning

A specialised face and body mode uses a unique face-mapping algorithm to capture facial features, hair, and fine surface details more effectively. Full-body scans can be completed in as little as two minutes, while the use of near-infrared structured light achieves Class 1 laser safety certification, making it safe for scanning skin and faces.

Full-Colour Model Reproduction

Equipped with a million-pixel RGB camera and an exclusive colour mapping algorithm, the CR-Scan Otter produces detailed 24-bit full-colour scans with realistic textures and accurate colour reproduction. This enables the creation of lifelike digital models suitable for design, archiving, visualisation, and 3D printing applications.

Enhanced Tracking and Low-Light Performance

Two integrated white LEDs help maintain accurate texture and colour capture in low-light environments, while eight infrared LEDs enhance marker recognition for objects with limited surface features. When used in Marker mode, the additional tracking data can deliver higher scanning accuracy and more reliable alignment.

Intuitive Operation and Portable Design

Ring indicator lights provide clear, real-time scanning status updates, while touch controls, exposure adjustment, start/pause functionality, and audible prompts help simplify the scanning process. An integrated IMU further improves tracking performance, and despite its durable metal construction, the scanner weighs just 390g and measures only 165 × 37 × 59mm for easy transport.

Ready for Digital Workflows and 3D Printing

The CR-Scan Otter creates accurate, print-ready 3D models without requiring extensive manual modelling. Scan data can be exported in OBJ, STL, and PLY formats, with support for Geometry, Marker, and Texture alignment modes. Connectivity is provided through a USB Type-C interface with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 compatibility, while support for future wireless scanning accessories extends compatibility to iPhone, Android, Windows, and macOS platforms.
