'A Retro Design Reborn...'
Blade - 'Dayton' Standard
FROM THE LEGENDARY GARY LEVINSON...
BLADE - 'DAYTON' STANDARD
Introducing the 'Dayton' Standard from the esteemed ‘Blade’ guitars, founded by industry icon Gary Levinson.
In 1987 Mr Levinson set forth to create his own range of guitars focussing on the highest integrity build, alongside the most innovative developments. Later that year, Blade guitars were unveiled to expectant eyes and ears at the Tokyo Music Show, and the rest, as they say…is history.
Fast forward to the present day, and the results of Gary’s unwavering commitment to building the finest quality guitars, full of revolutionary innovations are plain to see in guitars such as this, the Blade Dayton Standard. The Dayton Standard features the handy ‘E-Z Access Neck Rod’, which allows for brilliant access should any truss-rod issues arise, 'Adjustable Tension Guide' (ATG), and other innovations such as Blade's 'M-525' Tremolo for excellent String to Pole Piece Alignment.
This is a truly professional guitar, which offers professional tone and playability, without breaking the bank. The Dayton Standard has modern features, functionalities and looks, but with a classic vibe that feels inexplicably familiar when you pick up this spectacular guitar. The Dayton Standard from Blade is a definitive manifestation of comfort enhancing ergonomics, perfect balance and unmatched tone.
A Sleek, Curvacious Body, Exquisitely Finished
LOOKS TO DIE FOR The beautiful, curvaceous body of the ‘Dayton’ Standard from Blade is made from North American Alder, a popular choice of wood, used still to this day by some of the most revered manufacturers in the world today.
The use of North American Alder offers many advantages, both sonically and otherwise. Firstly, the use of Alder wood makes for a bold, clear and fully-voiced sound, with prominent mid’s and full-bodied lows. Secondly, Alder bodied guitars often weigh less than guitars made of, say, mahogany. Good news for those guitarists who often find themselves performing prolonged sets and for those long, hard days in the studio.
The Dayton’s fingerboard is made from Pau Ferro, arguably similar in appearance to rosewood, but tighter in grain which results in a ‘snappier’ tone. Pau Ferro offers a deep, warm tone, and a smooth playing experience underneath the fingers. The neck itself is beautifully made and sit’s in the fretting hand with a brilliantly natural, comfortable and familiar feel. The neck is super-fast and extremely encouraging to play.
Adjustable Tension Guide
UNMATCHED SUSTAINThe Dayton Standard is packed with quite literally, revolutionary technology. For example, the ‘Adjustable Tension Guide’ (ATG), this ATG technology, is unique to Blade guitars. It comprises of a small, spring loaded, height adjustable string tree which sits between the 1st and 2nd strings. This feature allows tension adjustment to compensate for the difference between various string gauges.
Furthermore, its asymmetric shape places slightly greater pressure to the 1st string than the 2nd, this design results in incredible sustain and minimum friction eliminating the majority of detuning problems.
A Retro Classic
BLADE
DAYTON STANDARD The Dayton Standard represents ‘Blade’ quality from top to bottom. Featuring unique technology, premium components and hardware far beyond its price point, the Dayton Standard effortlessly breezes past other guitars in its peer group.
Featuring an ‘LP-92’ soapbar-style pickup in the bridge position, and Blade’s own ‘VS-2’ single-coil in the neck position, versatility in tone is the name of the game here. Select the LP-92 for some thick tones, just packed with mid’s to make the Dayton scream! Need something a little more cutting? Just hit up the VS-2 in the neck and enjoy the sultry and creamy tones of the Dayton sing! Control wise, the Dayton sports a 3-way pickup selector, allowing for a choice of either bridge/bridge & neck/neck options.
The tremolo system is Blade’s own ‘M-525’, which allows for unparalleled string to pole piece alignment, and not to mention massive whammy-bar abuse. Fear not though, you needn’t have concerns regarding tuning instability from whammy action thanks to the ‘Adjustable Tension Guide’ system in place! Fantastic.
If you're in the market for a thoroughly versatile guitar, with looks to die for, playability and tones that are out of this world, and don’t want to break the bank, you have to give serious consideration to Blade’s ‘Dayton Standard’.
