Intel’s been on a mission of late. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively.

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.

be quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black Single Tower CPU Cooler, 4 Heatpipes, 1x120mm Pure Wings 2 Fan, 150W TDP, Intel/AMD is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and efficient Overall this is a fantastic air cooler. I have this mounted to a Core i5 9600K with a 4.4GHz overclock. I typically use my PC for gaming and it keeps the CPU around the 65 degrees mark under load. The fan is inaudible during daily tasks, and during games it's still barely audible but your GPU is almost always going to be much louder anyway. My only criticism is that the fan clips are quite rough, and easily scratch off the black coating on the radiator fins. Seems like a design flaw but the scratches won't be visible unless you take it out and look closely.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ruined Build CPU coolwr came with a flimsy plastic shield over then cold plate, and FAR too much pre-applied thermal paste. After cleaning up some of the paste and attaching the cooler, more paste spilled out over the side of the CPU, and when trying to remove the cooler, the oaste was so sticky that it ripped the CPU from its socket, bending most of the pins and leaving a trail of thermal paste all over the socket. Great!
