be quiet! Dark Rock 6 Intel / AMD Silent High-End Air CPU Cooler

be quiet! Dark Rock 6 CPU Cooler

Silent performance and compatibility The be quiet! Dark Rock 6 CPU Cooler is a high-performance air-cooling solution engineered to deliver powerful thermal performance with low-noise operation in a compact single-tower design. Designed for modern high-performance desktop processors, the Dark Rock 6 combines six optimised high-performance heat pipes with an advanced heatsink layout to maximise heat dissipation efficiency while maintaining broad hardware compatibility. The cooler features a Silent Wings 135mm PWM fan designed for strong airflow and air pressure with minimal acoustic output, operating at a maximum noise level of only 31.1 dB(A). The Dark Rock 6 also incorporates a hardware performance switch, allowing users to toggle between performance and quiet operating modes, including a semi-passive quiet mode with full fan stop capability for silent low-load operation. An asymmetrical heatsink structure with dedicated cut-outs improves RAM and VRM cooler compatibility, while the ceramic-particle black coating and magnetic top cover provide the signature premium be quiet! aesthetic. The cooler additionally supports compatibility with liquid metal thermal grease and includes an easy mounting system for simplified installation.

Easy Mounting

cooler installation design

Installation is a breeze The be quiet! cooler incorporates an easy mounting mechanism for simplified fan and heatsink installation across supported platforms. Thanks to its convenient, preinstalled mounting bridge and a firm yet gentle fixing method, cooler attachment is a breeze.

Compatibility & Installation Design

cooler installation design

Designed for all kinds of RAM and VRM coolers The be quiet! cooler features an asymmetrical heatsink design with clearance cut-outs to improve compatibility with high-profile memory modules and motherboard VRM heatsinks.

CPU Air cooler fan

Silent Wings PWM Fan Design The Dark Rock 6 is equipped with a Silent Wings 135mm PWM fan engineered for low-noise airflow performance. The cooler maintains acoustic output levels up to only 31.1 dB(A) at maximum fan speed while delivering strong static pressure characteristics for efficient airflow through the heatsink structure.

air cooler thermal paste

Compatible with Liquid Metal Thermal Grease Thanks to a nickel-plated base, Dark Rock 6 is compatible with liquid metal thermal grease such as DC2 Pro. Featuring a ceramic-particle black coating applied across the heatsink surface for a premium appearance and improved durability.

Advanced Cooling Architecture

cooler cooling design

Superior heat dissipation The be quiet! Dark Rock 6 utilises six high-performance copper heat pipes designed to efficiently transfer thermal energy away from the CPU into the heatsink structure. The cooler features an optimised fin stack layout engineered to improve airflow distribution and maximise cooling surface area for enhanced thermal dissipation under demanding workloads.

CPU Air cooler fan modes

Semi-Passive Quiet and Active Performance Mode The Dark Rock 6 includes a dedicated hardware switch enabling users to select between performance and quiet operating modes. The cooler also supports semi-passive operation with complete fan stop functionality during low-load conditions, allowing completely silent system operation when active cooling is not required.

Intel’s been on a mission of late. That mission revolves around grouping and standardising key technologies under various banners that are designed to ensure hardware compatibility and consumer ease of use. We’ll take a closer look at three such technologies that fall under the headings of Centrino, Viiv, and vPro, respectively.

Date Issued: 20th Oct 2008

The modern PC is potentially a mass of heat output and heat production hot spots. With CPUs rated at more than 100W of heat output, single graphics boards carrying similar ratings (and people want to run two!), multiple hard drives the norm, lots of memory and mainboards covered in heatpipes to combat toasty core logic and PWM circuits, a PC appreciably warming up a room when it’s working hard is no joke.
