Originally introduced in the late 1980s, the RG565 quickly earned its place among Ibanez's more interesting high-performance models, combining the familiar RG body with a stripped-back HH pickup layout and the kind of fast-playing hardware that defined Japanese Ibanez guitars of the period. The Genesis Collection RG565R brings that formula back in a current Made in Japan instrument, retaining the character of the original while giving players a chance to buy into the design without hunting down a decades-old example.

Part of what made the original RG565 interesting was its simplicity. Rather than loading the RG platform with a complicated pickup arrangement, Ibanez went with a pair of humbuckers and a straightforward control layout, leaving the guitar's performance-focused design to do the talking. The current RG565R follows that approach with an Infinity R neck humbucker and V8 bridge humbucker, giving you a versatile HH setup with the familiar five-way switching associated with this Genesis model.

The 5-piece maple/walnut Super Wizard neck is another big part of the RG565R's heritage. The original RG guitars helped establish Ibanez's reputation for exceptionally thin, fast necks, and the current version stays firmly within that tradition. At just 17mm thick at the first fret and 19mm at the 12th, the neck has the low-profile feel you'd expect, while the 430mm radius, 24 jumbo frets and bound rosewood fingerboard provide plenty of room for fast playing and high-register work. The classic white sharktooth inlays complete the period-inspired look.
