NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 3GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 3GB
Date Issued: 24th Aug 2016

The market for graphics cards priced at £250 has been hotting up since both AMD and Nvidia released GPUs based on their latest architectures. AMD has been more eager to pinpoint the sub-£200 market with two GPUs - the Radeon RX 480 and Radeon RX 470. Specifically, if you can find one, the Sapphire RX 480 Nitro 4GB is arguably the best card south of this all-important figure.

Asus GeForce GTX 1060 TURBO 6GB GDDR5 VR Ready Graphics Card, 1280 Core, 1506MHz GPU, 1708MHz Boost is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not disappoint At £250 this is one of the more expensive GPU's I've bought lately, and I got it specifically to support the Oculus Rift. Everything has been great. Installation was a piece of cake. Noise is negligible (seriously, a very quiet card). Performance is on point. With an i7, VR performance is as smooth as silk. Super stable under Win10. Extremely happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent First time putting together a pc and my first graphics card was faulty. Scan replaced it with this one and I couldn't be happier with it. Pleased as punch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Mini ITX Cases Bought this to go in an EVGA Hadron which is a beautiful incredibly tiny case and it *just* fits. I really do mean just, it took some effort to get it in there but we did it. We went blower-style cooler due to the GPU being right on top of the PSU so a normal dual-fan solution would be totally starved of air, however this blower-style fits perfectly and the fan isn't suffocated. This ultimately means that the blower-style cooler on this card is actually quieter than a normal dual-fan solution that I would usually buy for a normal sized case. This card doesn't get even remotely hot or loud under load, it's phenomenal the performance you get for how cool and quietness it is - that will do for most 1060s of course. In short: Perfect for a mini ITX build where a normal 2-fan solution would be starved of air and lovely and quiet to boot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Steady powerful card I principally got this to handle Cities: Skylines (single monitor @1080p). My last card, a 550 GTX was beginning to strain, regularly firing the fans onto max which made a lot of noise. This one doing the same has not increased the fan speed at all yet, and is providing a small performant gaming experience. Insertion was easy and straightforward, ports have good access. It is a long card, so make sure your case has enough space. It uses just one P4 socket (previous needed 2).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really fast card. Don't need 1080 Really fast card. Don't need GTX1080 and spend double price. GTX 1060 6GB is that what you need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Card. Fab card that, at stock speeds, can max out all of the latest games at top wack settings (When I say top wack, I mean every setting set to the highest the game allows in display settings including motion blur and not including any setting which can somehow limit frame rate or quality of visuals). Doom 2016, Max settings, it doesn't move from the 60 mark. Fallout 4? Max settings, 60 FPS with occasional drops to 55 when a lot is going on. Dark Souls 3? Max settings, 60 FPS with no drop. The same with Rocket League (although not such a demanding game) 60 FPS with no movement in frame rate. So far, only Fallout 4 has made this card drop below 60 FPS. All of these benchmarks are in 1080p. (1920x1080) Well worth a buy if you want a new, strong card but don't want to go over the £250 mark. Would seriously recommend. I moved to this card from an Asus GTX 760 and the difference (although to be expected) is massive. As for Scan themselves, they are a top notch company. I hadn't heard of them before but they got the package to me next day and the item was VERY well packaged with bubble wrap and lots of it. Would buy from them again. Only issue I had was I felt the next day delivery was a bit steep (£10) but free delivery is available. Would buy from Scan again.

Questions & Answers

Will this fit a 1070/80 waterblock?

Hi, I would be wanting to watercool this for a while until I am able to upgrade to a 1080 SLI or similar. So I was wondering if this is the same reference PCB as the other higher-end cards. Regards, Simon
