Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z, AMD 990FX, S AM3+, DDR3, PCIe 2.0 (x16), Quad SLi / 3 Way CrossFireX, 2x eSATA, 4x USB, ATX is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not too bad. If your wanting to run an AMD FX9590 then you are probably going to want this board. The bios menu could be better but it is functional. Perhaps overpriced but it is something you can build a good system upon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellence as usual from Asus. First my only gripe about this mobo. It doesn't have enough internal usb ports. A couple more would have been wonderful, but that is my fault for not choosing a different mobo. Apart from that, this mobo is excellent. Mil grade spec throughout, with enough bells and whistles to please nearly everyone. If you want a new gaming mobo, choose this, you won't be sorry :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Asus Crosshair V I am well over the moon with this board, I have no issues with setup or any issues with cards. it looks great and works fantastic, if you can afford the Board, This is a great board and love it. The price Tag is very High, but I am sure, if you have the money for it, you would not worry about price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good general purpose board with plenty of SATA ports I chose this board due to its number of SATA ports - 8 - just the number I needed. Unfortunately I am already at the maximum memory support so am hoping my needs do not outgrow the board. Everything works at a reasonable speed (remember to choose a good CPU) and the quantity of USB ports is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb AM3+ Motherboard with UEFI BIOS Bought it to replace my old motherboard with this one which has UEFI BIOS. Unlike with my old motherboard there was no need for me to update the BIOS to support the FX processor which I've had. You can have upto 32GB Memory which is more than enough. 3 Way CrossFireX/Sli support and DDR3 dual channel memory which means you can turn your computer into fast game machine. This motherboard comes with 990FX chipset for all your overclocking needs. Compatible with Windows 8.1. After running my new setup for a time now I've had no major issues whatsoever. Would recommend this for new and experienced builders and anyone who wants a good piece of hardware for high end AMD Cpu and Graphics card

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Mobo for AMD Have this paired up with a 8370fx and I'm really impressed. BIOS is laid out well and easy to navigate. Only problem is included software AI Suite etc.. YES it's worth the price. If AMD is your choice then just go for the best!!

Questions & Answers

Can it take a water cooled CPU

Reason why I am asking is because I am going with the AMD FX 9590 Black Edition 8 Core OEM Processor and that recommends it to be water cooled and I like this motherboard. Plus this is my first time dealing with Water Cooling systems.
Asked by: ServiusTheBear
yes. I use a H100i and it keeps it around 40'c

Will this ROG board be compatible with the FX9590 chip

Asked by: upandoveragain
Asus state that it is compatible along with the sabretooth rev 2 I own a Sabertooth it will run it at 4.7 if I try to overclock with turbo to 5 gz Freeze freeze freeze . And if you loock at the 2 boards on a compare list the specs are exactly the same . I bought the chip as I wanted 5gz . So with the crosshair being the same I just plumped for an asrock by the way your ram will never run at the speed its supposed to you need at least 1800 mem to run it. but it only runs at max I can get is 800 so its kinda no win for me but if I'm wrong then Id like to know. .? and you need a 1200 watt power supply.

CPU power connector

Hi all, I would like to buy this motherboard but my PSU only has a 4 pin CPU power connector. Can I run this board with 4 pin or will I need to invest in a 4 pin to 8 pin converter? I'm running an AMD FX 8350 @ 4.0Ghz, won't be overclocking as I don't know how to do it.
Asked by: LLOYD1985
I asked Asus support regarding this matter and they told me that the 4 pin power CAN be used to help power this mobo :)

fx9590 compatibility

Hi there im wondering on if you can advise me if this mobo would be compatible with the fx9590. asus website says it is, but im seeing conflicting things about the TDP and this mobos ability to handle it
Asked by: stec86
I run the same rig without any issues. You do need some fairly decent cooling solution. I use a corsair H100i which seems to keep the CPU approximately 40'c
