Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellence as usual from Asus. First my only gripe about this mobo. It doesn't have enough internal usb ports. A couple more would have been wonderful, but that is my fault for not choosing a different mobo. Apart from that, this mobo is excellent. Mil grade spec throughout, with enough bells and whistles to please nearly everyone. If you want a new gaming mobo, choose this, you won't be sorry :) 20 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Asus Crosshair V I am well over the moon with this board, I have no issues with setup or any issues with cards. it looks great and works fantastic, if you can afford the Board, This is a great board and love it. The price Tag is very High, but I am sure, if you have the money for it, you would not worry about price. 30 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5* a fantastically well built board, comes with great instructions and works well with my system. looks amazing all lit up too 24 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good general purpose board with plenty of SATA ports I chose this board due to its number of SATA ports - 8 - just the number I needed. Unfortunately I am already at the maximum memory support so am hoping my needs do not outgrow the board. Everything works at a reasonable speed (remember to choose a good CPU) and the quantity of USB ports is excellent. 12 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb AM3+ Motherboard with UEFI BIOS Bought it to replace my old motherboard with this one which has UEFI BIOS. Unlike with my old motherboard there was no need for me to update the BIOS to support the FX processor which I've had. You can have upto 32GB Memory which is more than enough. 3 Way CrossFireX/Sli support and DDR3 dual channel memory which means you can turn your computer into fast game machine. This motherboard comes with 990FX chipset for all your overclocking needs. Compatible with Windows 8.1. After running my new setup for a time now I've had no major issues whatsoever. Would recommend this for new and experienced builders and anyone who wants a good piece of hardware for high end AMD Cpu and Graphics card 15 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent product excellent product would recommend to this to anyone 17 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Mobo for AMD Have this paired up with a 8370fx and I'm really impressed. BIOS is laid out well and easy to navigate. Only problem is included software AI Suite etc.. YES it's worth the price. If AMD is your choice then just go for the best!! 15 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent mobo I brought this because I heard it was the best Asus had to offer in terms of am3+. I dropped an 8350 in and it fired up first time no probs. Its great for over clocking. It has an extra power connector for extreme overclocking and to boost your stability by spreading the power over 2 paths. There r so many features in hard to list them all. But I will say the software provided and the Led error code panel on the board itself could be valuable if u do run into problems... 28 July 2014

Can it take a water cooled CPU

Reason why I am asking is because I am going with the AMD FX 9590 Black Edition 8 Core OEM Processor and that recommends it to be water cooled and I like this motherboard. Plus this is my first time dealing with Water Cooling systems.

Answer:
Do not use this board for AMD FX 9000 Series Processor

the max wattage this board is only 140 Watts
and the AMD Processor needs 250 Watts

This can become a problem with you use your system under load.
and also destroy your motherboard.

Answer:
There is loads of room around the cpu site, so you should be able to use water cooling easily. I have the AMD FX-8350 8 core and I have chosen this cooler, rather than water cooling (link- https://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooler-master-v8-ver2-triple-tower-cpu-cooler-8-heatpipes-vapor-chamber-intel-amd-sockets-2x140mm-pw )
It keeps my system REALLY cool. About 6 degrees Celsius on idle and 80% cpu use it is about 25 degrees Celsius. What more do you need.

Answer:
Yes, it can take the processor. It only emits a TDP of 220W when oc'd to above 5Ghz. You will need a good PSU and of course water cooling or the Phanteks to be sure. Downside it is still a PCIE 2.0 slot for the graphics card and unlike the Z87 processors DDR3 is limited. Hence gaming load times maybe affected. For example BF4 multiplayer takes at least 1.5-2 GB of RAM when playing so speed is essential to prevent lag and be one step ahead. You really do not need to overclock this chip anymore than the factory - do you?

Answer:
Asus state that it is compatible along with the sabretooth rev 2 I own a Sabertooth it will run it at 4.7 if I try to overclock with turbo to 5 gz Freeze freeze freeze . And if you loock at the 2 boards on a compare list the specs are exactly the same . I bought the chip as I wanted 5gz . So with the crosshair being the same I just plumped for an asrock by the way your ram will never run at the speed its supposed to you need at least 1800 mem to run it. but it only runs at max I can get is 800 so its kinda no win for me but if I'm wrong then Id like to know. .? and you need a 1200 watt power supply.

CPU power connector

Hi all, I would like to buy this motherboard but my PSU only has a 4 pin CPU power connector.

Can I run this board with 4 pin or will I need to invest in a 4 pin to 8 pin converter?

I'm running an AMD FX 8350 @ 4.0Ghz, won't be overclocking as I don't know how to do it.

Answer:
I haven't tried to so don't know if it will work without the extra pins but I would not recommend it. There is no need to use the extra 4pin connector next to the CPU fan header though.

I don't know what PSU you have but if it doesn't have an 8pin connector I would check to see its rated amps on the 12V rail. With two 12V rails you should have 18A on each or for a single rail PSU at least 35A.
