Rated 5 out of 5 by Batknight84 from Excellent so far So I've been using this a few months now since my previous motherboard failed. This was a notably cheaper than the Intel one it replaced (which was 4 years old and not OC) and so far I have noticed little if any variation in performance. If you are you just building a gaming rig you really don't need anymore than this. Very happy overall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ShedPainter from No longer good value here I got an e mail asking for a review of this cpu. Provided that a cpu works, there's little you can say about it, because you already have the specs on number of cores and speed. I've had 2 of these from Scan, and both seem to work OK. Installed in different Asrock boards they don't boot into Win 10 as fast as my Phenom II 965 system, about which I'm astonished, but more important than the cpu in this respect is the board and chipset. You also don't see much improvement in how things run, although hard disk speed is now at a compatible SATA level, which is good for disk-bound work. (Mind you, the difference between 65W power consumption and 125W is that the case fans extract rather warm air from the Phenom system rather noisily and nothing like as hot air from the Ryzen). The stock cooler is quite adequate for normal use. For many computing purposes the 2600 is overkill anyway. The recent price hike here, to within a £ or 2 of the price of a 3600 stops this being good value for money, and suggests to me that Scan don't want to sell them. I was thinking about a third purchase, but whatever it is it won't be a 2600 at 50% more than the last two.

I can confirm that this processor is an amazing piece of silicon, and will handle most modern games with ease, as long as your graphics card can also handle the load. I highly recommend grabbing the Ryzen 5 2600 if you're looking for a cheap but powerful processor for your computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Noddi93 from Bang for Buck I started watching tech Youtube videos to research computer parts and this Ryzen 5 2600 was recommended regularly across the board as 'bang for buck' and I can completely recommend this CPU for an initial AM4 upgrade, as I don't think Ryzen 3 is worth the short term outlay. Scan had the cheapest price when you include £49.99 'The Division 2' game thrown in, though you will need to verify your purchase through AMD rewards and their own verification software. (This requires a full system, so I needed to buy an AM4 motherboard and a single stick of DDR4 RAM for verification) While Ryzen 3rd gen is on the way, buying an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 memory as well as this purchase means that when the Ryzen 3rd gen does release, there is a viable upgrade path as AMD has announced AM4 will remain for Ryzen 3rd gen. DDR4 memory is reducing in price at the moment and as I only bought a single stick of 16GB this also allows for upgrade-ability. The Division 2 runs smoothly at 1080p 60 fps on my PC running a Asus ROG GTX 1060 6GB, while gaming the stock 'wraith stealth' is worked hard and does create a lot of noise, though is not noticeable for day to day tasks. Ideally an aftermarket fan cooler is needed to get silent or quieter game play, though this can be done at any time. As with all build your own parts, do your research and find the best value for what you are after, as the 2600X is only £40 more and has a better stock cooler, the 2600X could be the ideal solution for you.
